Va-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartending Action is precisely what is right about indie development right now. It's a really highly polished experience with a lot of secrets to be found, coupled with a story that pulls you along with strong characters. The drinks just happen to be a neat distraction.

VA-11 HALL-A is so much more than just chatting up clients and making drinks. It's the kind of game that makes you think, and it can be silly, serious, soul-crushing, and light-hearted, all at the same time. Its cyberpunk/anime flair is just the garnish on top of the cocktail.

我一向是一个不喜欢不喜欢视觉小说类游戏的人:我总是认为,视觉小说类游戏不是过分冗长,就是剧情狗血,抑或是两者兼备.至今,我尝试过的近十余款gal game都是如此.我无一通关,在短暂的尝试后就放弃了. 然而VA-11 HALL-A却打破了我的想法. 首先,节奏把握得相当到位.每一位顾客光顾酒吧的时间不长不短,谈话中适当穿插了调酒任务,节奏把握得相当好,没有让我因为冗长的对话而厌烦. 还有各种各样的,在对话中不经意透露出的巧合:你不久前用Blue Fairy招待的缸中之脑Talyor是那本帮你走出唯我论的<<世界上最后一滴雨>>的作者; 作为熟客,也是好友的Dorothy连续三年被AE主编雇去扮演他死去的女儿: 前天晚上招待的这位有些粗鲁的编辑也有这样的一面............... 这些巧合以极其自然的方式流露,看不出丝毫的修饰痕迹,令人感慨, "世界真小,生活真大". 人物形象塑造有趣,多样.从缸中之脑到Cat Boomer,从Lilim到狗,不会让我弄混.他们的言谈更是令人印象清晰. 还有很多没有提到.尤其是写到这里,再回头看刚刚写下的文字,与游戏相比,简直就是一坨没滋没味的屎:没办法,个人文字能力有限,再写只会更乱.建议你自己去试试.

Some neat visuals, but tedious gameplay

I didn't have any strong expectations coming into this, but it's effectively a visual novel with a drink mixing minigame. The graphics are great, the story is interesting but a little slow and scattered. The thing that killed this game for me was the painful drink mixing. Maybe it's because I was playing with a controller instead of a mouse, but it was so slow and unsatifsying to trudge through that aspect of the game, that about halfway through the game, the tedium of the mixing game overcame my curiosity about the story and I gave up on it.

Chill and memorable

I have good memories of this game, it's pretty much only conversations with the occasional drink mixing mechanics which should not in any way be neglected as the quality of service provided by the bartender (Jill) can affect her income. I remember having a lot of fun, playing this game in a drunken state so I could inmerse myself and forget about the stressful low paying job I had. I'd say the cholesterol problems such drinking habit caused me was worth it as I still have those memories with me.

A love letter to sci fi media

A fantastic visual novel game. Full of cyberpunk and gaming references. Perfect to chill and read some funny dialogues. Music is awesome as well. Lost the count on how many times I've replayed it/bought it on different platforms.

Nothing

Only played the game about a third of the way through, but liked what I saw. It's (basically) a point-and-click adventure where you make drinks. Your progress in the game hinges on the 'special' drinks you make at certain points of the game. Apparently there is also a New Game+ feature so you can see all the endings. All in all, a quirky indie game that's certainly worth the price of admission
