God help me but I have to use the words "I wanted to like this game"... but
The lasting feeling that I have is the developers spent all their time and money on some things (the armour is spiffing) then ran out of both. A lot of animations look like place holders, and there are the usual comments about dialogue etc.
If you want to run about a huge world RPGing it up then this may well scratch that itch. I would give it another star if I weren't RPGed out. I give it a tired two star meh.
I want to alert everyone that the creators of this game, Reality Pump Studios and Topware Interactive, ARE EXTREMELY TOXIC TOWARD THEIR FANBASE: when the recently-released 'Call of the Tenebrae' DLC for the sequel, Two Worlds II, was first announced, it was going to be FREE to all previous owners of the base game plus the 'Pirates of the Flying Fortress' DLC, and contain a significant engine overhaul; however, there was VERY LITTLE upgrading done on the engine, and Two Worlds II still contains all the bugs it's had for 6,25 years, but the worst parts are that 1.) the DLC WAS NOT FREE for ANYONE, no matter how much content they owned; and 2.) the creators REMOVED THE CONSOLE-COMMANDS (which are virtually NECESSARY for a smooth playing-experience due to the NUMEROUS GLITCHES) AND HELD THEM FOR RANSOM, ACTIVELY ANTAGONISING THE FANBASE WHILE DOING SO. Why did they make such stupid, asinine moves? Because, along with the new DLC, they implemented MICROTRANSACTIONS FOR ITEMS THAT YOU CAN ALREADY RECEIVE via normal gameplay, and, for reasons that may never be known, thought that THEIR DEVELOPMENT-CONSOLE for THEIR GAME could be used to HACK THE STEAM WALLET. Why did they implement microtransactions in a six-year-old game? For some reason, they thought that because such things existed on the Xbox and Playstation consoles, that PLAYERS LIKED THEM. SERIOUSLY? EVERYONE HATES MICROTRANSACTIONS. Now, from what I understand, THE CONSOLE-COMMANDS HAVE BEEN RESTORED; to activate them on a standard American keyboard, press the ~ (called a 'tilde'), then type the new access-code COTCHEATS (capitalisation is irrelevant). Don't get me wrong, the story-telling and the sheer scale and variety of the playable areas in these games is AMAZING, but Reality Pump and Topware NEED TO BE BOYCOTTED; DO NOT BUY THEIR PRODUCTS, AS THEY CARE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS, ONLY PROFITS. Just... don't buy this game. I heard there are better ones but I can't possibly imagine how a person could say that when the game, basically, don't work at all.
Crossing fingers to get a refund. This is the first time I buy something on GoG and have a feeling of being swindled.
This edition is so epic that you have to find solution to run it by yourself, problem with lags, audio in game... i thought GOG is preparing games for modern setups but looks like not anymore.
This game was really fun until I got stuck for the third time in the first 20 levels while riding my horse. The other two times I could just spawn another horse and continue on (after the tedious process of transferring my inventory to the new horse), but this time I found myself stuck on a bench placed in the center of the riding path in a very traveled part of the world, unable to move or dismount. There may be a way to despawn the horse using the console and continue on with the game but I had no desire to continually de and respawn horses and transfer inventory for the remainder of the game. Some may say don't use horses but I needed the extra inventory space and it was fun (although frustrating to control at times) to ride them and fight from them. Not to mention you moved faster on a horse, a significant factor in a large game world.
For such a promising game to be derailed by inadequately debugging such a central feature is disappointing. They could have removed the horse entirely if they couldn't get it right and created more teleportation locations and lighter loot, for instance. Or remove features like benches placed in the f&#!($* middle of the riding path that one becomes easily stuck upon! Too bad, I was having fun otherwise.
