Mediocre game

Lets start with the good things: A huge open-world experience - could easily sink 60+hours there if you want to complete everything Tons of items/loot, and decent skills progression gives the player a real sense of progress - monsters which easily beat you at earlier levels become a pushover! A decent soundtrack (not a great one though) good variety of special skills/spells And now for the not so good points: Awful dialogue - I think the developers' first language was not English. Forsooth, methinks olde English style the developers verily tried for (yep, the dialogue often sounds like this in the game!). This made the mediocre plot even more tedious. THe voiceacting is also very flat. Boring landscape and environment - not helped by graphics that seemed dated even at its time. Compare this with TES:Morrowind and you will know what I mean . . . Really clunky combat system, especially on horseback, but even for melee. Archery system isn't bad with the auto-aim, but that's about it. . . Buggy quests that won't update properly Repetitive fetch-this-kill-that-return-for-reward quests. Under-powered magic system (except for perhaps healing), though it does seem interesting Overall I won't recommend buying this unless it's steeply discounted. This game doesn't come close to genre-defining classics like Morrowind or even the more mediocre Gothic 3, though I can tell it draws inspiration from these titles.

Excellent first edition of this game

I've had this game on CD for many years and go back and replay it a lot! I never seems to loose it's play ability. I've only played this on a PC, but it got the horse control perfect. I say this because Two worlds 2 botched it up. In this game the horse is essential for carrying stuff. I always avoided horseback combat because it's too easy to get your horse killed. The game play is very straight forward, and fights with sword or bow are quite good. A lot of people poo-pooed the hokey language style, but it never got in the way of game play. This game will always be one of my all time favorites.

A bad game that's more fun than expected

Two Worlds looks and plays like an asset flip, but the sad thing is this game came out way before that was in vogue. The people look like toad-mutants, the music is uninspired, the gameplay is spammy, the bloom effects have to be turned off if you don't want to go blind, the enemies are generic, the setting is bog standard, the difficulty is all over the place, the AI is lobotomized, the voice acting is legendarily cringey, the story is non-existant until the final boss, and then after the final boss you wish it went back to not existing. In short: the game sucks. So why the three stars? 1. If you find two of the same weapon, you can duct tape (I assume) them together to make the same weapon, only stronger. This can be done an unlimited amount of times. Even on the rusty longswords you find in the beginning of the game. Kill the final boss with a +100,000 butterknife! 2. You can stack as many (of the same) enchants on these weapons. Now your +100,000 butterknife is a +100,000 butterknife that also does 300,000 fire damage! 3. Enemies don't respawn (except the ghosts at night). Literally go across the entire map committing genocide on every wolf, orc, bear, and human you come across! Remember to kill whole families so you don't leave any orphans! Nothing is more satisfying than showing up to a town to find everything dead, then laughing to yourself because you forgot you had no more need for non-butterknife-related objects in the town a few days ago and you assimilated them. So here's how to have a decent amount of fun in this game: kill and steal everything so you can find more butterknives and fire enchants in order to kill and steal everything. Is this a must-play game? No: it's not even a decent game, to be frank. Can you have fun in it anyway? Absolutely!

Can not get it to start.

I have tried everything to get this game to start, compatiability mode, safe mode downloaded legacy drivers. it just refuses. If the game ever becomes playable for me I will change this review to reflect gameplay and such. Until than I can just give 1 star. My computer is if your curious is AMD FX[tm]-6100 Six-Core Processor 64 bit operating system.

Pretty satisfying open-world fare

I was a huge fan of Gothic I & II (but not III) and so I fell right into this game's open-world hack-and-slash "quasi-RPG" style of play. It's very similar to the Gothic games but with a huge variety of better-looking weapons and armor, a slicker interface, but perhaps a less compelling story-line. Also there are horses to ride. About those -- a lot of people complain about the horses being cumbersome, but I myself was impressed with their properly realistic behavior and separate AI, the way they'll stubbornly steer away rather than do galloping gymnastics down a 45-degree slope, their fairly exact adaptions to variations in the topography. Using horses is a challenging but fun option, and takes some finesse. If you want a more "player-character" fluid horse behavior try the excellent Mount & Blade games. Anyway, I find it to be an addicting game practically from the get-go.
