Apparently the developers ran out of money and it shows - the game is unpolished to say the least and ends at the beginning of the story. Trine 3 is also easy in a very bad way - first level in Trine 1 was harder than this whole game. Buy only if you're a huge fan of Trine or if the price drops to a reasonable level - and I think 5€ would be asking for too much.
To be honest i was expecting trash thanks to the reviews and the change from 2D to 3D.
I like it, sure it cost to adapt yourself to the new perspective but you come to accept the change and is a good challenge.
The only sad part is that it was somewhat short compared to Trine 1 and 2.
The history... WOW!
I bought it because I played Trine before... 😉😉, so when I bought the trilogy was with no knowledge of Trine 3, not disappointed at all.
Well this game went quick to get through. Felt a lot easier and was shorted then previous games in the series.
The 3D movement is nice but it is so hard to knowing the where your character is in the depth so it is easy to miss things as you don't know if you are far in enough or to close up. Makes combat a bit more difficult to be precise.
Game is beatiful.
You got your 3 usual suspects, the wizard, the thief and the knight.
No skillpoints and you have more abilities from the start and some are removed. Felt a bit lacklusting thanks to this. Still have some new fun things in the game.
I've been a Trine fan for years, ever since my older brother introduced me to the game- loved every bit of first two parts. Much time has passed since third part came out, and now it's 2025 and I just finished the game in 7 hours. I remeber all the sceptical reviews that the game received when it first came out and honestly I don't think that it deserved all this backlash! This game is beautiful, just like it's previous parts, and the 3d view added even more charm to the breathtaking visuals. Yes, it was confusing at some points, but to be fair I just approached it as more challenging than before, especially that I basically know parts 1 & 2 by heart. It was much fun playing around in this different perspective, and the unfolding story seemed highly promising! That's what left me with a bitter taste- cutting the tale in half. I really hope that Frozenbyte gives it a second chance, just for the sake of telling a complete story. I mean, two more parts have been made already, so why not give it a go?
Regardless, thank you, Frozenbyte Team for many hours of fun that you gave me back when I was still a kid, and now that I'm adult. Will always love the Trine series!
The idea of adding a 3rd dimention was good in theory, but the team didn't manage to do it in a satisfying way. At best the platforming and puzzles are playable, at worst they're so, so annoying.
Too bad, because everything else is as good as in previous two games. We have a great voice acting, charming world desing and music, and traditionally fun, fairy tale of a story. Unfortunatelly that story ends on a clifhanger and it doesn't appear we will ever get a proper closure.
