Nice game with awful combat

This game could be topgrade stuff. I adored the graphics, loved the atmosphere and liked the characters. There are two things I hated though, and it's controls and combat. I can usually live with not exactly intuitive controls, but the combat is awful, I'd say fights are literally killing this game. The encounters are long, boring and, for me, utterly unpleasant. And there's a lot of enemies with different resists and so on, so planning the battle could be fun, but then the battle starts.. and it's both slow and disorganized at the same time. I'm usually OK with tactical combat, but in this game it's really hard to keep everything organized. Maybe I'll overcome my distaste for combat and finish the game, maybe I won't, don't know yet. But I know I can't do more than 5 or so fights a day.. and there's a lot of fighting in the game. Well, answer could be the easiest mode ("I'm here for the story"), but it would probably bring only even more boring fights, because they would be not only boring, but also not even a bit challenging...

Beautiful but...

This is a beautifully crafted game, somewhere between Diablo and Baldur's Gate, that unfortunately suffers of a couple of problems that made it hard for me to play it for too long. The first one is overcomplicated progression and crafting system. Leveling up characters and their equipment is quite tedious and not that intuitive either. The second problem is combat. Unfortunately the player abilities are kinda limited in the fun they do provide in combat, and enemies either shoot or come closer for melee. After 2-3 hours, fun is a big gone. What remains is a beautiful huge dungeon with secrets to find, well written dialogs and gorgeous landscapes. Gets a 65/100 from me, not 100% my cup of tea, but many will probablty love it.

An excellent Dungeon Crawler !

A little janky but a full experience rich in athmosphere, story, roleplaying and combat. If you liked the Divinity series, you'll enjoy this one.

Like a turn-based game, but better

If you're a fan of turn-based games, you're going to love this. Although this game is not actually turn-based, the slow motion gives you (a little) time to think as the action unfolds in slow motion. When you encounter a group of enemies, you can inspect their attributes and 'withdraw' to equip proper weapons before fighting them. It's been a long time since I put this much time into a game before getting bored.

Nor good nor bad, definitly not original

Combats are good but as the arenas repeat, they become more and more the same. Exploration is ok but as it's always underground with slight variations, it becomes more and more tedious to progress. Monsters types have been seen bazillions of time (first floor: squeletton, second floor: orcs, third floor: beast men). Your first four heroes are 2 humans, an elf and guess what, a dwarf. Their personnalities have also been seen a million times etc etc etc Conclusion: if it's your first crpg and the first time you meet an heroic fantasy set up/background, you will be ok. If not, be ready to NOT be surprised AT ALL. I've played 20 hours, reached the 4th floor and asked myself: do i want to go further, ........, nop, do i regret those 20 hours.........., nop, will i remember this game in 10 years like i remember, for exemple arcanum or vampire the masquerade,....... nop Last thing: what makes the high randomnes of equipments you find in diablo, path of exile or even borderlands or destiny, it's the sheer amounts of loots dropped. Otherwise, in game like fallout, baldur's gate, or even dungeon master, items have more or less non variable stats. Lots of loots=lots of variable stats Few loots=fixed stats Those 2 mecanics are functionals. But Few loots+Lots of variables = Save scumming and that is not fun. God, choose one functional mecanics and stick to it, i don't care but 20 load/reload min each chest because there are so few items which are also so random IS NOT FUN.
