Torchlight

I got torchlight free and still think it cost too much. There are an entire three classes to choose from and they are gender locked. There doesn't seem to be a lot of difference between them apart from graphically. I found skill choices limited with little difference between them. Storyline, isn't one. You're in a town, you go into a mine and you kill things, that's it. Game mostly consists of left clicking on things and because left click is used for both move and attack combat spent hitting things and accidentally moving away. You can use r click for specials which is good, especially if you find using both hands too complex. Role-play, yeah right. Difficulty, normal is uber easy. Higher levels only require that u click twice as many times. The only effect being to slow the pace down. Graphics, nothing special here. A lot will depend upon whether or not you like cartoon zombies(can't really say I do). Pets, these can run off and sell your junk. You don't have a big inventory and don't seem to need the money for anything much so... Your pets can also shape shift but that requires you standing in front of a small square of water for 20mins and clicking an icon during the 1 second it turns grey to catch a fish. Random dungeons, nice idea but seems completely wasted in a very linear game. The maps have set points with only one path so all this does is change the scenery a little.There are no real choices to make, no story to follow, no puzzles to solve.

Stupendous graphics. Fun gameplay. Choice of what to do when ever you get killed. What more to ask for in this type of game? A better story line? Who cares! A better difficulty balance between the main story line and the side quests? Maybe but even then...What can I say I just loved this game from the beginning to the end. Of course, the interface sucks at the worse possible moments in the game but I've seen worst in games that would never compare to this one and cost ten times more. A Gem!!! No joke!

Did you like Diablo II? a) Freakin' loved it. b) Meh/Never played it. c) Hated it with a passion. If you answered "a", you should have this game already, no buts. If you answered "b", you will probably still like this one. If you answered "c", keep walking, there's nothing for you here. For the record, I answered "b" :-).

Its great but not so great as diablo 2 or 1

I've never been a fan of ARPGs and most importantly grind in general but Torchlight changed that. With over 31 hours in the game I can finally give a review of this great game. Pros - Great Cartoonish Graphics - part of the reason why I like the game so much. Lots of loot variations - Hundreds and probably thousands of items with random bonuses. Pet system - no need to go back and forth in town to sell, the pet can do it for you and it can also cast spells, equip some items and even transform. The Shadow Vault - A dungeon with endless floors and more loot as you go by. This is also Torchlight's strongest feature if you ask me. Without the Shadow Vault the game would probably become dull. Cons - No Multiplayer - As a single player game Torchlight is almost perfect. Too bad it doesn't come with multi player. (A mod is available but it doesn't work 100% flawless). Final: The game is totally worth every penny and will keep you stuck for many hours to come. The game also supports Mods and if there's one I'd recommend that's the official "Respec Mod" to be able to reset your characters skill points. Buy this game now!!
