using the term "game" loosely

Some people have mentioned this in their reviews, but I don't really see very many where it is the focal point of the review. This game is painstakingly slow and utterly repetitive...including both the gameplay and the soundtrack, which I noticed some raving about. I actually like the main musical motif, but it is repeated ad nauseum. After I played for about an hour I realized there is NO ACTUAL GAMEPLAY, but rather a storyline you walk through by aimlessly clicking random,very obvious objects and, many times, you are rewarded by just literally WALKING. One can try and skew this is a good "indie" game but, in my opinion, advancing to the next level because you walked to an area where, many times, an arrow is literally telling you where to walk, is lazy programming. The throwback style looks great, and I am somewhat intrigued by the storyline, but there is NO WAY I'm going to spend ~4 hours clicking origami rabbits and arrows to uncover the mystery.

Touching, Soulful, Introspective!!

One of the best games I've ever played, it has touched my heart and soul, and makes me ponder about life. It's got some really great references to geeky pop culture, snarky dialogue from Dr. Watts, and a great story that I will forever remember. And the music...the MUSIC!!! It carries the game through out, and enhances the emotions to the highest extent...such awesome and original content from the music, to the game play and story. Get this game, and gift it to friends!!

Touching and beautiful

I consider myself an "hardcore" gamer, so the thought of an emotive, RPG-Maker game, sold 10$, without any combat was quite boring to me. Yet that game had excellent review everywhere so I gave it a try.... You play two doctors in a top-down tile game, whose mission is to enter one's memories before he dies and arrange them so the person can remember having accomplished their dream when they die. Here, you are looking into a dying man whose last wish was going to the moon. Quickly, the story becomes more and more interesting, as you understand the dying man life. The doctors have quite funny humor, which makes for a great contrast with the sadness and seriousness of the memories. You then proceed backwards into his mind, changing memories from his old to his youth. Rarely has a game made me feel so much. the story really is touching. The art style consists of very good pixel art, and some drawings. The music also is very good. Go play it

Like reading a book

Playing this game is more like reading a novel than an actual challenge, which is good. I liked Hotel Dusk Room 215 which gave pretty much the same experience (with some more gamer's stuff). The story overall is really great and touching. It's one of those that let you see in advance what is going to happen, but not too much. Thus being both satisfying and suprising. There is also some clever humor! Two moments left me kind of dissapointed though. Behaviors and quotes that were non-reasonable or artificial. The game might use some polishing in terms of gameplay. The cursor sometimes does not 'catch up' to the context and also the mouse click doesn't trigger desired action. Once, when the controls temporatily changed i didn't know how to proceed until I figured I have to use space instead of LMB. But that are not major issues. I recommend this game to anyone who wants to have some calm entertaining time.

Narrative in gaming at its best

As a game in the classical sense, "To the moon" is quite weak; honestly, also the visuals aren't very inspired, even for a 16-bit-style game. BUT, the dialogues are incredibly well-written, the pace of the story is great and the soundatrack is simply charming. If you like interactive story-tellling you shouldn't miss this!
