This is the first WITCHER game that I played and it impressed me a lot to its gameplay and story. It can be hard at first since I'm not used on drinking all the potions before the fight and not while on it. Some people in our household thought that I'm even watching a movie while playing this due to its graphics and character dialogues. A must play and this could also be a good entry point to non-WITCHER fans.

A drastic departure from the first game, gameplay wise... but not necessarily for the worse! If you like Souls, you will be in your element. If not, well, you had better learn to roll. Apart from some UI issues stemming from being a 7th gen multiplat. the only objective shortcoming is the significant nerf that has affected alchemy, more specifically potions (probably to account for the action RPG gameplay slant and also as a justification for the alchemy skill tree). Other than that, if you are a fan of good games (and you should be), you could do a lot worse than Witcher 2.

Since it's based on a book I didn't read, no complaining about the plot which is quite interesting. Liked the humour in the game, all those subtle details and nuances about the in-game world, people etc. Well, I'm not a hardcore player, so I had to switch difficulty to easy, because combat is really hard - you get killed in no time if don't have those sharp fighting reflexes, and I was too lazy to tough it through. This is quite an old game, but on max settings it might fry your calculator-tier PC. However, even with low settings the game looks beautiful and doesn't seem to lose much on the image quality. Definitely worth playing at least once

For me, this game is great adaption of Sapkowski's world into the video game. That's where all the three games nailed it. It feels like natural expansion of what I've read. You have your classic fantasy setting, with elves, dwarves, magic, etc. But with buckets of slavic atmosphere. The characters talk and act like real people in the world where nothing is black and white. You often have to choose the "lesser evil", where your choises are not straght good or bad. They have pros and cons. Someone will benefit from them and someone will get hurt. The story deals heavily with politics. This might be downside for someone. Yes, you still get to do the "witchery stuff" (fulfilling contracts, killing monsters), but the prime role plays politics. There are significant changes in combat in comparison to the first game. It's real time, no more waiting for flashing cursor. What I didn't like was the change in alchemy. Unless you focus on alchemy in the skill tree, the potions long for much shorter time. In addition, you can use potions only outside the combat during meditation. Which could be annoying after a while and I avoided it (with exception of the cat potion). Although I had a great time with a game and the story is interesting, it feels more like a prelude to the third game than its own thing. Many of the plotpoints (Yennefer, The Wild Hunt, Nilfgaard) serve only as a foreshadowing for the next installment. That's just my personal gripe. Overall, it was a great experience for me. It's an epic fantasy game with a slavic soul.
