I felt the lack of a first person view. I knocked one star off because the installer is bundled with Galaxy, which I don't use (and doesn't add anything).

Just play it already! Seriously it's such an immersive, well put together game. Brilliantly done and very addictive with characters you care about. Yes, it's mature and it doesn't muck about but it is genuinely refreshing to find a game that doesn't patronise the player or pull it's punches. The only thing I wish is that I had bought it months ago!! :O)

This is my comfort game, been replayed it for at least 3 or 4 times since 2009! Here for more replay until the remake come out!

Purchasing The Witcher in 2007 restored me faith in single player RPG games. Even tho the first versions were buggy, and locations were loading for years, comparing to overall joy it gave me - those difficulties ment not much. Everything has been fixed with later patches which are included in this enhanced edition. The world in the game is based on Andrzej Sapkowski novels. World of magic, monsters and lust. With kingdoms full of conspiracy, and kings with no conscience. You are given a chance to play as Geralt of Rivia. A witcher, mutant, and outsider. Designed to be a monster killing machine. The way the story is told makes this games one of the most "realistic fantasy games ever". Game allows You to make choices which are affecting the story. On the other hand, its keep pushing You forward, so You don't get lost in the middle. If You expect choices between good and evil You are wrong. There is hardly any good in the Geralts world. I consider the story and the ambience as most important parts of RPG games. However, not only that, but The Witcher gives You also unique combat and crafting system, a feeling Your decision actually matters, world that "lives" and a bunch of unanswered questions. Game didn't get old for all these years, and if You looking for interesting action RPG - I'd say this game is a must. Than You can play Witcher 2. Than, You will catch Yourself waiting for the last part =)

I have played games from Commodore 64 till today and still ongoing. I have played trough all categories, hypes and ups and downs of the game industry. I can say, with utmost certainty this is one of the best immerse story to date. With tweaked Bioware's trusted engine, dedicated team, dedicated artists and actors, and most importantly drawing story from a famous "fantasy" writer, which work echoes realism and historical max of beliefs, based itself on slavic (suppressed by forced only-nordic) culture, this game even overshadows famous Gothic saga... Keep in mind, Witcher 2 (2nd part of this game) is rather disappointing unless you look at it as a glue story between this part, and part that is about to come. May I say I own both collector's editions (with about 2 copies on the side that i'm showing my friends), and I haven't regretted spending all that money! Amazing.
