These controls? Man lol I don't get it haha

I played this game because I was really amazed when playing Witcher 3. Because of that, I was very interested in playing the whole series of The Witcher from the beginning, then continued with the second series, and finally the Wildhunt series. Highly recommended for lovers of The Witcher series! *sry for bad english* *Too bad, Yennefer didn't appear in this game. I really love her :( likewise Geralt

The Witcher is definitely showing it's old age when compared to today's titles. Combat mechanics are outdated, voice acting is pretty terrible, UI is sometimes confusing... However, something about it makes me happy. It has a lot of charm, either because of the universe, the lore, the developer's love for the game, or because it invokes a feeling of nostalgia... It also has a great atmosphere despite the outdated graphics, more so than many current titles. In the end, I find it to be a lovely game despite it's apparent flaws, and I will undoubtely be playing it again sometime in the near future.

I like this game, but at the same time I find it boring at times. There are also STILL, after 14 years... some translation errors in the game that are a little bit annoying, like the meaningless "Skinnable items available" that pops up relatively often! The worst bug in the game is perhaps the problems people are having getting inside the hospital towards the end of the game. I had the same problem playing the game three-four years ago. And the bug is STILL not fixed 14 years after release! The game contains FAR to much game padding in the form of far to little capacity for items and weapons that leads to having to spend far to much time on managing your inventory. There is also FAR to much walking back and forth to investigate, questioning people, getting quest items and so on. Monsters like Drowners respawns to boredom and beyond in some areas like "The swamp". It gets boring when you have killed the "1000'th" Drowner... Some of the extra missions seems to be "prototypes" (missing voice overs and not much to do for example) and are mainly recycled areas from the game itself. The fighting is basically just simple "Point and click". The game have to load every single time you walk in/out/upstairs/downstairs somewhere. Crashed three times, but I never lost any Save Games. To me the graphics looked OK, at least considering that the game is 14 years old. All in all I rate this game to 3/5. Mainly because of the boring game padding. But if a lot of walking back and forth, tedious inventory managing and fighting a lot of the same monsters over and over and over and... does not bore you, and if you take into consideration the ridiculous low price of the game, you might rate this game to at least 4/5, and perhaps even 5/5 if you do not compare the game 1 to 1 against more recent games.

Never before have the moral dilemmas in a computer game been so difficult and so deep. And so meaningful. This was actually the first video game where the player had a real impact on the world. A very realistic world, as far as fantasy worlds go. I mean: This is not high fantasy. Compared to many other RPGs, this one is quite dirty and has got a lot of grey shades. This is just an ideal adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski's novels, whose style is very cynical. The combat system has also been well thought out as well. The statistics of the character rather than the skills of the player are what counts on the battlefield. In this system, you just click at the right time - like in a rhythm game - and Geralt does the rest spectacularly. It is a controversial opinion, but the first Wither and the Thronebreaker are my favourites of the whole franchise.
