One of the best RPG in my top 20 RPG list... I can always suggest to anyone: play this Witcher then second and then the 3rd... there is not really a reason to skip any Witcher. And of course I have to give award to the best comment: "The best Neverwinter Nights module" - indeed it is the best @alvira.f45

This title belongs up there with other successful RPGs such as Dragon Age: Origins, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and Mass Effect. While the combat can be somewhat repetitive, the narrative, characters, and soundtrack are unforgettable; making this one of the best games I’ve ever played. Geralt of Rivia is a textbook hero, and this first rendition of him in game form is well executed. Must play title. Power through the combat and you won’t be disappointed.

Okay. Long story short. This game is old and made in the older style of choice-based RPGs. IF you love Dragon Age Origins and can stomach that style of combat and cut-scene delivery then you'll enjoy this game. The Voice Acting is superb. The story is engaging. The combat is less real time and more an over the shoulder (Should you chose that camera option) experience ala Baldur's Gate were stats account for calculations that determine hits, misses and crits. It takes some getting used to and it isn't the best but if you played Dragon Age and can appreciate substance over style you'll be fine, Set your expectations accordingly. SUTTERING VIDEO FIX This worked for me but you may have to play around with toggling some things for the same effect. 1. Go to the .exe launcher file. Right click on properties. Click on "compatibility" Click on "disable Full Screen Optimization. 2. Launch the game and go to "Options" and then "Advanced" Turn off Fullscreen. 3. Go to the Video Options and toggle off or on (It seems to be different for some people) Depth of Field. It was toggle "on" for me. This should significantly reduce tearing and stuttering in the cut-scenes it isn't perfect, but it was leagues better than what I had on initial install. HAPPY MONSTER SLAYING!

A must-play for anyone who loves The Witcher, ideally starting game, then the second, and finally The Wild Hunt.

The writing in this game is fantastic. W3 was my entry to the series, then I read the books and am now playing through the games. W1 has a fantastic plot and good characters, but isn't as moving as some of the moments in W3. My biggest issue with the game is the combat. Real-time with pause combat was always bad and I will die on that hill, and taking a combat engine designed for that system, then manipulating it to appear like an action game led to taking damage without the enemy making an animation, overlapping status effects (knocked down and doing a dodge at the same time), and an overall unenjoyable experience. I played the game on hard to make sure I stayed engaged, but if you are new to the series and wanting to try this game out, play it on whatever difficulty will keep you interested and do all of the story content that you can until the gameplay enrages you.
