Good Lovecraft story
The plot follows an original story while the side quests and the in game items cite perfectly other Lovecraft's works. The gameplay follows the classic scheme of a open world action-horror game. Quite interesting the invesitgation parts

Good For What It Is
So if you are familiar with Lovecraft's short stories in general you will see a lot of references. Its sort of like Disney Land, like, everything associated with the creator has been consolidated into one small area. That makes it kind of fun. . .For anyone else, well, you will have to rely on your judgment. The only real criticism I have is the color pallete. Everything is very muted, very drab, its all browns, greens, and greys, there is also a lot of clutter which doesn't help anything. I really wish they had worked with a greater spectrum of tones and hues to lend vitality and contrast to the environments. The open world is nice, exploring it isn't nearly as exciting as it should be

OK game with a good story
The story is as good as expected for that kind of games. But you won't play it for the graphics or the animations quality or the fun of fighting because it's not. I would have expected the sneaking would have been possible a bit like what has been done in Alien : Isolation

Far too repetitive, few things to do
The atmoshpere is there, especially during the first hours when you discover the game. Then "the Soufflé collapses", as did my hopes, when I realised the game was a never ending sequence of round trips in a weirdly inhabited city. NPC are just there. In weird places. You visit the same places again and again (very few variations in the "homes" we can visit.) Monsters pop randomly. As do crafting materials. We don't have to solve mysteries, the hero being able to re-live scenes from the past (really practical when you are a detective). The game announces "detective gameplay". That's true: we get the boring stuff: going from A to B. Searching in archives using an horrible search system. Even using the map is a pain. It's fun for 5 minutes to manually place tags. Then it gets boring. And not being able to have all of them displayed at the same time is just another nail in the coffin. The game is boring, ergonomics are bad. Sherlock Holmes games are a better choice.
