A fun mix of tower defense and RTS base building with a ton of weapon options and crafting mechanics. You start off building a new colony and end up building bases across the planet fighting hordes of bugs angry that you're there.
There are some bugs here and there. Ive had a few crashes but nothing serious thankfully. The DLC's have just added on to the pluses of the base game.
Kind of surprised I've gotten 100 hours out of this game but it scratches an interesting itch of two of my favorite genres.
Plain and simple, the draw card for me is the story.
The graphics of this game are quite good for a TPS. However, the third person camera is not the point of view I would prefer for a whole game. A little first person, or swappable camera modes would go a long way to making this a lot better.
The base / tower grinding is also a bit of a pain.
I haven't got through the campaign completely, but building a defensible base is the key to early game.
SPOILER:
It's easy but time consuming to fence off a whole map once you have a primary base and a couple secondary resource collection stations running. Once that's done, a few enemies spawning randomly on the field are easy to take care of.
