Subnautica minus:
- The deep story
- Twists and turns
- Horror/dread
- Graphical polish
- No real scary critters
Build systems are more like Astroneer, very simple and very obvious.
Environment reminds me of Satisfactory, in that is it vast and hand-crafted.
The first impressions of the gameplay are not impressive. The first 30 minutes had me going, "Oh no."
Then why rate this 5 stars?
The build systems are rewarding and deep without being Space Engineers or Kerbal.
You'll enjoy this if base-building and sim management are your things.
I particuarily like this because I love games where you "fix" or "regrow" or "heal" as part of the main mechanics and theme.
Spent about 45 hours terraforming my first planet, and loved every minute of it. The game feels super serene and it's easy to get immersed and forget that hours have passed. The only danger comes from not keeping an eye on your life support and taking a meteorite to the face. Seeing the planet come to life step by step also made me happy. Then, discovering there might be more to the planet than sand, rocks and some moss was very exciting too!
I tried the demo and was hooked.
I have tried in the past survival like games but i didn't really like the combat aspect of it all.
I love that in this game its just me and a empty barren planet.
No combat and no monsters to worry about, just do what i feel like doing in that moment.
Now on my second playthrough i am doing it at my own pace, some crafting, upgrading and a ton of exploring.
I suffer from severe anxiety so this game is perfect for me,playing it in ''relaxing'' mode and i just enjoy this wonderful game they created for us.
No game is perfect thou, couple of things could be added or fixed when it comes to the game:
-Auto run/jetpack toggle, one of those would be perfect.
Just steer and you can go wherever you want, yeah i really need that auto feature.
-Base pieces and crafting apparatus could be ironed a bit.
When trying to make the base sometimes a module just won't go there since the ground isn't leveled enough, could try foundation grids but not really a fan of the way it looks when i am building my base.
Same goes for apparatus like the Drills, the T3 is just kinda wonky when you try to place it,specially in my case when i try to keep them all together in a row and neatly aligned.
What i would like to see in the future is the chance of leaving the planet and starting over.
Kinda worried that once i am done with the terraforming that i won't have much more to do and i really do like this game.
Read somewhere that in future updates the planet will be 50% bigger and we might get vehicules, that right there sounds like an awesome idea, can't wait.
Well anyway, hope you give this game a try,if you like survival games you will love this one,for the price it cost its really worth supporting the team behind the game.
You can really tell they put their heart into it and it shows, keep up the good work :)
The Planet Crafter is an awesome game if you enjoy more casual first person single player. It is just you versus the planet and the vicious storms. Your mission of terraforming is challenging but possible. At least to get as far as the current Early Access allows.
You start with limited resources and have to survive. By plundering wrecked spaceships and old bases you might just live.
In the middle the game can be a bit of a grind, especially if you weren’t aware (yet) of how important something’s are. Your character is dropped on a barren rock of a planet without a lot of information and you are dropped into the game similarly.
Once you have enough going on to take a breather (and literally breathe since you need oxygen for a long time…) there are plenty of biomes to discover and loot to find.
Awesome game, well worth investing. Some time and money.
