Reveal the true nature of the mysterious Golden Idol and those who covet it. Follow the journey of a cursed aristocratic family as you untangle a web of deceit and villainy in your hunt for the truth behind this dark conspiracy.
Perfectly scratches that Obra Dinn itch. Very rewarding. A few circumstances where the logic is hard to follow, but 99% logical and solvable with old-fashioned observation and sleuthing.
For those hoping for a capable logic puzzle brain teaser, look no further. The Case of the Golden Idol does a great job of challenging your mental matter while providing humor and wit to keep the player engaged. My only caution would be that there is little replay value, once you've solved the puzzles, the game is over. But this is a minor quibble based entirely on the nature of the game's design. The time you play it for is enjoyable and satisfying.
A truly unique way of making a point-and-click game and telling its story. The increasing difficulty will leave you scratching your head and the mysteries of the story will truly draw you in.
It can be finished in half a day and is worth every penny.
Buyers beware, this is a different version from the one in steam/xbox. To start, there's no multi-language support. You can't change to a different language. To make matter worse, the font size is not adjustable. It's small and intelligible even in 1080p monitor, or esp. in high resolution. The letterings in a word actively clusters together. "Wound" show up as "vond" or even "vnd"/"vod". The interface change is tolerable, but lack of multi-language support and words becoming too hard to read in a text puzzle are simply too bad for this game.
Other than this, the game itself is a gem. Got no complaint in that aspects. Sadly, it's just an inferior version. Hope GOG or the developer/publisher fixes it in the future. Have to ask for a refund now. In this state is nigh unplayable.
