Oh the memories...
Same feel as the original C64 version but with MAJOR quality of life improvements. I don't miss drawing maps on graph paper one little bit!

A loving modernization of a classic
The effort to modernize this classic shows with updated graphics, UI tweaks to cast spells, some game play improvements to be less punishing, and even an automap and minimap. Despite alll this, the original games are there for the playing.

Great 80s game
It is just like I remember it back on the Commodore64. It is a bit dated but what do you expect? I've played 1 (not finished) and II so far (still playing) I'm a little concerned with III since there was that wheel that came printed with the game. Wondering how that will work out (early anti-piracy) If you played it before, just get it and prepare for some nostalgic gaming. If this game was before your time - might be fun to see how things were before graphics were really good. And as i remember it, the hunter class was/is nothing more than a useless mana sponge (you'll spend tons healing the character for the few times it does a crit hit. Wins my award for the most useless character still.

Manuals unfortunately missing
Great recreations of bards tale, but unfortunately, seem to be missing the (absolutely essential) manuals. Will be incomplete until these are added into the package, with much annoying looking things up online required to get through puzzles

Excellent Remaster
This game is an excellent example of a remaster done right. It brings a very old game that very few people could enjoy anymore into modern times with great improvements to the user experience, graphics, audio - really every aspect of the game. It does so while preserving the original game's charm and everything that I loved about Bard's Tale games years ago. There are a couple of things I wish were done slightly differently, but overall it's an amazing experience for me. For people who have never played anything like this, it may be difficult to get into. Games have not been made quite like this since the 80's and early 90's. Story is there, but it's light. Bard's Tale game are turn based dungeon crawlers and also fairly grindy. Levels can feel tedious to get through. But I feel so rewarded every time I complete a dungeon and move on to the next one. It's rewarding (and essential) to keep finding better equipment along the way, and leveling up characters. If you're looking for a game that doesn't hold your hand, a good school dungeon crawler, I recommend you give this a go!
