Thie game is a beautiful piece of art! the visuals, the audiodesign, the athmosphere in general, so good!
besides that, i´m so very happy that its not again about dominating nature, but about knowing how to accept what it gifts you. discovering a new plant in my settlement and getting to know it in detail and what possible interdependencies it has with the other plants is just the best. :)
If you love classic 2D city building games and gardening I have the game for you.
Reminiscent of a Ceasar-like map layout you attempt to build multiple city districts on a map with natural obstacles. While harvesting, in multiple ways, the map's plants or placing them down to grow them. The gimmick being the plants are more realistic in where they can be placed, how they play with others or can be harvested.
You can send out free citizens for expeditions exploring the world for random encounters.
All while completing quest goals. To trigger the next story portion of the senerario. Build x amongst of this or have so many houses with such stats type of thing.
Love the art style, and it offers a much needed depiction of an alternative economy / way of organizing that I haven't found in any other game in quite the same way. Its depiction of a bleak future that is nevertheless brimming with hope and solidarity is a much needed respite, especially with all the dystopian junk out there these days.
The game has a great hand drawn and pastel aesthetic, which, paired with a great soundtrack, makes me want to just sit in the menu screen and quietly enjoy the atmosphere. But this doesn't prevent it from having really enjoyable gameplay, that is rewarding without being punishing and really gives me the satisfaction that comes from building a good town / society.
The concepts are fresh and interesting and though I'm familiar with them most people might not be, so it's a great way to introduce people to the solarpunk / anarchist genre while still having familiar mechanics and themes. I particularly enjoy the fact that money isn't apart of the game, and they chose to focus on fulfilling people's needs rather than exploiting and making profits like other games.
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite games of all time, and I would love to see many more games like this out there :)
As a fan of both the old Pharaoh title and of Moebius' comics, Synergy seems tailor-made to me.
It's still clearly an early access but it is very promising already!
This game is charming in many ways, but even half way through all the tutorial actions I am mostly still unsure what I am supposed to do. Guesswork has got me so far, but its not my preference
