If you like your city builder style games at a nice gentle pace this is well worth investing in. Even though I generally prefer a little more storyline, I'm still finding it very compelling.
Really enjoyed playing this game, picked it up free on Epic Game Store a few days ago, loved it so much bought on gog to get the DLC's and lose the pesky DRM.
The musics great, the art style cool and it's nice and complex, unlike so many of these games today.
Only reason its not 5 Star is the lack of mod support... hopefully this will be fixed in the future...
I really liked it. I've put 40 hours into it so far, which was mostly playing in a standard mode (where I had around 300 sols), where you just manage your colony and make sure everything's okay.
Tutorial is not really helpful, doesn't cover the important stuff that you learn on your own later (I did it through trial and error method, really, which is fine with me).
I turned off the radio, couldn't stand the music/auditions. But the sounds of the colony itself are kinda... soothing.
Visually the game looks really good - there is a certain beauty to the barren, rocky surface of Mars. It's somehow interesting, beautiful even. Maybe because it's so mystesrious.
When it comes to gameplay you can just simply focus on expanding your base, achieving milestones, making sure you have enough resources and everyone's happy, that you're prepared for natural disasters etc.
During standard mode there is some kind of story, which makes you react in certain ways, which is alright.
There are also short challenges which are okay, not really that challenging, but you need to have a proper plan in order to complete them. They can also help you make sure your base is as efficient as possible which can help in standard playthroughs.
It's really worth it on sale. The amount of hours I was able to put into it and the fun I had make the game good. I'm looking forward to getting a DLC (when it's on sale).
currently on sol 157, aliens have made contact and i am running low on resources, and i am loving it. there are a few things i would like to see added in the future, like a machine that can go and automatically find on the surface resources, ability to add roads so you can have your loaders go between two areas automatically.
truth be told there is a lot of micro management here, but i love that sort of thing, music is beautiful, graphics are good, loads of replay value, cant wait for what comes next
