Steelrising is a new Souls-like twist on the French Revolution that unfortunately doesn't see all of its lofty ambitions grow into accomplishments. While its gameplay is enjoyable once you get far enough to earn some unlocks and get main character Aegis more decked out, it tries to mimic elements of FromSoftware's action RPG classics without always understanding what made said elements work. When Spiders leans less on taking inspiration from other games and more on presenting its own ideas, however, we get an intriguing-and surprisingly deep-alternate take on an important moment in France's history.

Promising game but...

I have a Ryzen 5 2600 and a RX 6600 XT and couldn't make it run at more than 25 FPS, especially after reaching Les invalides, I tried every possible graphical setting either from the game or from the GPU settings and couldn't get any higher FPS, I liked the game itself is actually great and fun and I got as far as defeating the Alchemist Of Luxembourg but the low FPS just makes it unplayable sometimes and I gave up on it, maybe if at some point in the future, it is better optimized I'll play it again but as for now I really can't and can't recommend it either.

游戏美术很可以的，本来可以打4分的，中途一直和神父对话都没有进DLC的选项，所以我一路玩到通关，原以为点继续是回到打BOSS前，然后点继续，就是字幕回到主界面，这设定太垃圾了，导致我最后通关都没有玩到DLC，而且主界面也不能直接点DLC进入，游戏内玩出6个地图大后期了点神父也不能进入，这什么垃圾DLC设定，非得最后一张地图才能进入？总之这种体验突然变差。所以最后直接给一星差评了.

Stylish and Full of Almost-History

Okay, yes, it's very much a Souls sort of game (if not actually Soulsborne), but the aesthetic is gorgeous, gameplay is reasonably intuitive, and I love the slightly off-kilter but still weirdly plausible approach to revolutionary French history.

Another Dark Souls clone

I was totally fascinated by the automata-/puppet-theme of this game, the main reason I gave it a try although I'm not too much into action RPGs. But a few minutes into the game I realized that I know the game's gameplay from somewhere: collecting anima, finding savepoints, upgrading equipment and stats there, refilling health packages - and experiencing the same enemies again that I slaughtered a minute ago. But I managed not to die until the first boss which was - of course - unbeatable. Not because I was not careful, but because it was overpowered, and I was slow like a knight in armor, while he whirled his weapon with incredible high range around. Sorry, but being unfair is not the kind of 'hard game' I prefer.
