Lots of Fun, Well Worth It

I came into the game from having only played Steamworld Heist 1 and 2 (both great games in their own right) and also play a decent amount of card games, so I was super intrigued when I saw this on super sale not too long ago and am very happy I gave it a shot. I read some other reviews describing it as a cozy kind of game and I can definitely agree with that sentiment. The story was enjoyable, as were the characters and playing it on the hardest setting was still pretty friendly. Having played other titles like Slay the Spire and Monster Train I found SteamWorld Quest to be a fun palate cleanser of a time. I came in looking for a cute, light-hearted, story driven deck building game that wasn't going to make me pull my hair out and got exactly that. Will I replay it on NewGame+? Probably someday. Will I replay it on a regular new game and try out different cards and party member combinations? Almost certainly. Would I recommend it to a friend or anyone else? Definitely.

Great turn based RPG

Pretty fun, reminds me a lot of Child of Light and Battle Chasers: Nightwar. Also has a silly humor characteristic of the Steamworld series. Didn't finish it yet, but I've been enjoying it so far.

An absolutely INCREDIBLE experience

As someone that does not tipically play turn-based RPGs, this was an incredible first experience that made me want to explore the genre a lot more. While it could probably be called "simplistic" compared to other games of it's genre, I think SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech is an incredible experience to introduce a casual player to turn-based RPGs. The gameplay allows for an enormous amount of creativity and the gameplay get progressively more complex as the story goes on with new effects and statuses being introduced, as well as characters with very interesting and fun to master mechanics. At the same time, the enemies are just the right amount of challenging and the bosses are very well designed in terms of difficulty. Narratively. and while I didn't fall in love with the story or anything, the characters and the setting are so full of whimsy and charm while having amazing chemistry in between them and presenting interesting twists and character arcs that eventually will end up making you interested in them. The majority of levels and the design of the areas were pretty fun and varied with each one feeling unique and, honestly, getting better and beter as the game progresses and none of them were particularly frustrating or annoying to traverse in my opinion. The only problem I had was the final boss, which at least felt a lot like a damage sponge, but the rest of the bosses were great, especially the one before the fianl one. That boss was incredible and I still remember the fight to this day. Overall this was an amazing experience and I can't wait to play more games, both from this studio and from this genre.

Very light and fun

I got hooked on the PS Vita versions of SteamWorld Dig. I love the art and the character movement of all the games and this one definitely feels like it's a part of the family.
