Fans of Starcom: Nexus should know that the overall game mechanics have remained similar (with a lot of improvements), this is not a direct sequel-- it is a brand new story. New players will not need to be familiar with the plot of Starcom: Nexus to jump right in.
If you enjoyed the previous starcom game, then you very likely also enjoy this.
The mechanics have been interated on and improved.
For those that have not played the other, if you enjoy exploring with some combat and trading all wrapped up in a nice story then this should be for you.
You get progression in the form of collecting research points which you can invest in the tech tree on unlocked tech. Which you then can use on building a better ship, if you have enough resources collected.
Its a nice little game which keeps me captivated better then some tripple A games, though these days that might not mean that much anymore.
I was skeptical at first because of the top-down graphics, but with this gameplay it really makes sense. It's not overly complex, ideal for nice relaxing hours. The story and side quests are very well done in my opinion. It really invites you to explore!
Cool features:
- Crew members check in from time to time, which reflects a lively atmosphere.
- Create your own notes on the map. Opponents too strong? Retreat and leave a note. Found resources? Add a note!
For those who want something even more complex, I can recommend “Starsector”, I for one will definitely spend several hours in Starsector after the very well written story of Starcom Unknow Space.
Thank you Wx3 Labs for this wonderful experience.
