It is a time of great rejoicing in the galaxy. Luke Skywalker, with the help of Wedge Antilles, has blown up the Death Star. But there is little time to celebrate. The mighty Empire is gathering strength for a determined, all-out assault on the Rebel forces.
To save the Rebel Alliance from this Imperial onslaught, Luke Skywalker and Wedge Antilles have assembled the Rogue Squadron, a group of twelve of the most skilled battle-tested starfighter pilots. You will fly into battle as Luke Skywalker, to engage in intense, fast-paced planetary air-to-ground and air-to-air missions ‒ dogfights, search and destroy, reconnaissance, bombing runs, rescue assignments, and more.
Take on the Galactic Empire in X-wings, Y-wings, A-wings, V-wings, and snowspeeders.
Prove you’ve got what it takes against a slew of the Empire’s best and baddest, including AT-AT walkers, AT-STs, TIE fighters and more.
Test your flying skill through extraordinary environments ‒ over water, through canyons, deserts, and volcanic regions.
Astonishing 3D details include real time lighting and special effects (explosions, smoke, engine glow, tracer fire and more).

When this launched back in the day, its was top shelf Star Wars gaming, but it's no held up very well. The hoops you have to jump through to get the game running like it supposed to don't help that any.
Pro-tip: Install this to the C:\GOG GAMES directory instead of the usual Galaxy director, or it won't run at all.
no matter what i do this title will not recognise a windows xbox 360 controller.
used to play this years ago with a old joystick, was a blast, not playable with keyboard though.
I feel kinda robbed.
Let's start with the down side: it's INSULTING when someone ports a console game to the PC and then allows you to only map 2 gamepad buttons. That's what loses 1 whole star for this game, the fact that it has been ported with the clear and arrogant "The customers are idiots, we don't have to expand a lot of effort on this" attitude.
When you switch to mouse, the game is a lot of fun. I grew up on X- Wing and TIE-fighter and, while this game is more arcady then those two, chasing TIEs around is still a lot of fun. Graphic is adequate (give the game's age) and voice acting is up to the task.
In summation, if you want to fight with the Rogues and can look pass being insulted by the developer, it's a fun game to play.
let me start by saying I LOVE this game with all my soul it is the only star wars game I remember playing as a kid and in fact it was one of the first if not the first computer game I paid full price for and installed on my computer, so I nearly screamed in joy when i saw gog add this however gog has found a way to dissapoint me as I cannot get this to run i will get past the intro movie and hear the music but just get a black screen, i try running in compatability or administator i wont even get the opening movie it will crash immeadiatly. Please fix this game
Having played this game when I was much younger I was excited to give it a go for £2.49 or so. I can't actually remember much about the gameplay of when I first had it, only that I played it. It loads up fine and the screens all work okay etc but trying to play it with a keyboard and mouse is infuriating. The keyboard doesn't actually appear to do much in terms of moving the ship, it all seems to go through the mouse. And boy does the ship move when you twitch the mouse one way or the other, even after turning down sensitivity, it was going here there and everywhere - actually aiming at an enemy seems nigh on impossible. There seems to be some problems with perspective too, at one point my ship was a tiny blip on the map and the camera was so far behind I couldn't tell I was about to fly into a cliff.
Might have to try and source a joystick before loading this one up again.
