It is a time of great rejoicing in the galaxy. Luke Skywalker, with the help of Wedge Antilles, has blown up the Death Star. But there is little time to celebrate. The mighty Empire is gathering strength for a determined, all-out assault on the Rebel forces.
To save the Rebel Alliance from this Imperial onslaught, Luke Skywalker and Wedge Antilles have assembled the Rogue Squadron, a group of twelve of the most skilled battle-tested starfighter pilots. You will fly into battle as Luke Skywalker, to engage in intense, fast-paced planetary air-to-ground and air-to-air missions ‒ dogfights, search and destroy, reconnaissance, bombing runs, rescue assignments, and more.
Take on the Galactic Empire in X-wings, Y-wings, A-wings, V-wings, and snowspeeders.
Prove you’ve got what it takes against a slew of the Empire’s best and baddest, including AT-AT walkers, AT-STs, TIE fighters and more.
Test your flying skill through extraordinary environments ‒ over water, through canyons, deserts, and volcanic regions.
Astonishing 3D details include real time lighting and special effects (explosions, smoke, engine glow, tracer fire and more).

I was very excited to see this title on GOG and I hope that means that Rebel Assault 1 and 2, Shadows of the Empire, and I hate to admit it... the Pod Racer game will be coming soon. This game reminds me of a great time in my life and I can't wait to play this again. This is truly what I come out to GOG for and once again I am not let down. I have always been a casual gamer, only spending a few hours a week playing. However, this was a game that I would go back to a great deal, except this time it is not just a demo.
At first my T-Flight HOTAS flightstick wasn't recognized. Turns out all I had to do was uncheck compatibility mode on the properties panel for the Rogue Squadron shortcut GOG put on the desktop. AND click "Apply" instead of "OK" at the dialog. Went back to the properties dialog to make sure it took. Installed drivers for my joystick, made sure it was working in the control panel. THEN launched Rogue Squadron. Went to Joystick settings, clicked the Default button, everything set up automatically and I was ready to rock!
Game runs smooth as glass at 1280x1024. Absolutely beautiful. Best I have ever seen it. Best Rogue Squadron playing experience ever. Previously, I had to play it on N64 to get gameplay this solid.
Absolutely phenomenal. Totally worth my last 10 bucks for the month!
Plays much Better than I remembered, works on windows 10, I read a few reviews that said they had issues using Windows 10 but, as of Oct 23, 2015 it seems those issues have been addressed thru updates, I had to turn off compatibility mode to make joystick work, which was easy, ( right click on game Icon on desktop, go to properties, then click on compatibility tab, uncheck box Run this program in compatibility mode ).
After doing that got to Joystick on game screen hit Default button and it should map the buttons on your Joystick, Also Hit the Cockpit view its the F8 on keyboard every time game Play starts at point, where you need to fly your ship,, or your view of the ship will be on the Horizon and uncontrollable.
I must give credit and thanks for help and info to a, u-tube vid of this game from "TooVeryLegit TV" His Channel showed off this game,, If you want to see this game in action Playing on Win 10 search his channel, He was also kind enough to emailed me, the Keyboard inflight Controls list and told me about the F8 key and the compatibility box uncheck, and got my Joystick working to get me going playing this game.
Play is very good considering graphics are 2nd Gen, Sound is also quite good, BUT, Forget about using a Mouse to fly, get a joystick, a good usb one, I got mine for $25 at amazon, I couldn't believe how well it played, I purchased another SW title X-wing v Tie fighter will post review as soon, as I stop playing this one.
At first the controls didn't work so well, I couldn't get it set up with my Xbox 360 controller and when I tried using mouse and keyboard it didn't respond to the right input. The game wouldn't allow me to turn/yaw the X-Wing, the brakes didn't work, and whenever I fired my lasers it would also fire my torpedos as well and this was the default settings where everything is supposed to be separate and I was hitting the right buttons! I contacted customer service and they were helpful. If the Xbox 360 controller doesn't work click on the Windows start button, search for "joy.cpl" program, click on it, go into advanced settings and set it as the preferred device for older programs. This allowed me to use the Xbox 360 controller for Rogue Squadron and it works perfectly for the game, I'm now able to fly around without a problem, shoot down Tie Fighters and get gold medals in the game. Rogue Squadron is still a great classic Star Wars flying game, I loved it on the N64 back in the day and the PC version is just as good, I just wish the other two that were on Gamecube were on PC as well.
