I previously rated this game poorly as no matter what I did I couldn't get it working on my computer. I'm using windows 7 pro 64x. I had been using the galaxy client to install it and it never worked. Uninstalled from the galaxy client and reinstalled with the normal download from the GOG website and IT WORKS!!!! Great game! spent many hours playing it as a kid and now look forward to many more to come!
Rogue Squadron was one of my favorite games back on the N64. So I was really excited to be able to play it again. But as it turns out, I can't. The game doesn't properly support my XBOX360 controller. As a result I had to fight with the abysmal controls most of the time instead of the enemies on screen. It's just impossible to adjust the camera right. So you have a terrible camera angle most of the time, which doesn't allow to track your position correct. I crashed several times out of nowhere because my ship seemingly was close to the surface. Which I couldn't see. To sum it up: I strongly advise anyone against buying Rogue Squadron 3D. The controls are just so terrible, that it'll kill all the fun. I don't know if it works better with other modern controllers, but I highly doubt it.
We all know how awesome this game is. If you're like me you spent countless hours as a kid playing on N64. I even got in trouble because my mom found the cheatcodes in my pocket, which read "farmboy all tied up".
So I'll play this like crazy, and enjoy the heck out of it, but it has some issues. The draw distance is literally non-existant. Unless you're right on the other ships, they're a block. Also, the ships float through the air akin to the old movies where the ships bounce around while flying straight. It is odd. I wonder if it has to do with different drivers, etc. Seems as if there are lots of instances of visual bugs like this though.
All in all, totally worth it.
Okay so I just bought this game, I am trying to use my 360 wired controller but am having no luck with it. Can someone please help me through the steps, I went online to the windows website (I think anyway) and had to download the Windows 7 64x version since I have 8 64x I figured it would work but it isn't. I just want to play this game with a controller. Please someone help!!
