It is a time of great rejoicing in the galaxy. Luke Skywalker, with the help of Wedge Antilles, has blown up the Death Star. But there is little time to celebrate. The mighty Empire is gathering strength for a determined, all-out assault on the Rebel forces.
To save the Rebel Alliance from this Imperial onslaught, Luke Skywalker and Wedge Antilles have assembled the Rogue Squadron, a group of twelve of the most skilled battle-tested starfighter pilots. You will fly into battle as Luke Skywalker, to engage in intense, fast-paced planetary air-to-ground and air-to-air missions ‒ dogfights, search and destroy, reconnaissance, bombing runs, rescue assignments, and more.
Take on the Galactic Empire in X-wings, Y-wings, A-wings, V-wings, and snowspeeders.
Prove you’ve got what it takes against a slew of the Empire’s best and baddest, including AT-AT walkers, AT-STs, TIE fighters and more.
Test your flying skill through extraordinary environments ‒ over water, through canyons, deserts, and volcanic regions.
Astonishing 3D details include real time lighting and special effects (explosions, smoke, engine glow, tracer fire and more).

This game is one that is easy to learn to play, but difficult to master. The game itself is really good amd well made, I have played it and I feel that it was well worth what I paid for it. =)

I purchased this game shortly after it was added to GoG, having incredibly fond memories of playing it years ago with a joystick when I was little. I downloaded it, and installed, the whole game coming in at less than a hundred MB if memory served so everything was fine and dandy on the installation front.
Unfortunately the troubles began immediately after the opening cut scene here I was treated to black screens for menus which made it virtually impossible to navigate until I eventually, by some small miracle of luck, was able to launch the game.
I was playing this game on my 360 pad, having been unable to find another joystick within my budget at the time and the game handled perfectly. The controls were responsive and laid out in a way that made sense, flight was fluid and all in all, the game itself ran fine, beyond the preexisting performance issues that are just a part of the software's age.
Due to the black screen error, I was unable to properly save the game which made the time that I had spent playing it, multiple hours in fact, completely pointless.
Following both a reinstall and reading through the local forums, I learned that the screen error is endemic to this version of the game, and at one point there were rumblings of a patch which, after another reinstall almost a year after the first attempt, yielded the same black screen error.
Simply put; Until the error is fixed the game is virtually unplayable, which is saddening because normally I'd gush over it.
Great game back in the day, but this version is broken in so many ways.
-controller is practically required, but you may have to jump through some funny hoops just to configure one
-even after going through all of that, the camera refuses to properly follow my x-wing, it keeps zooming out, I disabled the z-axis, still no good
-no option to change sensitivity
-in some positions, the joystick makes you turn in a sort of zig zag pattern instead of changing direction smoothly
Are these other reviewers even playing the same game?
