你会如何进行临终道别?
《Spiritfarer》是一款关于死亡的休闲管理游戏。你扮演逝者的船主斯特拉,也是一名灵魂摆渡者...
There are some really nice aspects to this game. The characters, exploring new locations, performing new tasks for the first time, playing events for the first time. Unfortunately it's buried under a mountain of crafting busywork.
This game raises very mixed feelings.
What starts like a new great adventure, with lovely drawings, views, sunsets and sunrises, and big starry sky over the ocean, nice melodies, lots to do and new horizons to explore, along with nicest ball of fur as your reliable mate...
How it ends?
If you are really planning to play this game, first go read synopsis very carefully, and I advise it in the great care of you. If you got (or had recently) certain hard family situations (and most of all, if your family is also not very rich), this game may not be the best choice at all.
Some characters in this game are not very nice, and you will be forced to interact with them anyway. If you do not like "platformers" (games where it is necessary to jump very precisely on platforms) or not very good at it, you may be frustrated by some episodes that cannot be skipped. Some words that were said in game are questionable at best for some people.
The longer you play, the sadder game will became. I cannot recommend this creation as a pure "game", where "game" means "entertainment, fun" (IMHO).
This is more like visual novel: beautiful, sometimes strange, and sad.
P.S. Argument "pro" is cooperative: one of not so many games you can play together with your partner on one machine and one screen, like old times :)
A beautiful hand drawn adventure game where you fix up a boat and take people on your ferry and get to know them before you finally send them off into the afterlife, a nice take on Charon's obol.
This is an incredibly beautiful and quite honestly heartwarming game. It also feels very well polished.
Unfortunately I have to take away one star, because the native linux build crashed my whole pc twice (Using Ubuntu + Gnome). However it works perfectly fine and very smoothly using wine.
But all in all defently worth a buy!
I'm still wiping tears as I write this. I don't think any other game has made me cry like a baby like Spiritfarer has. It is a game about death and acceptance where you lead characters to their final destination. You do this by steering a boat on a curious sea where you can visit about 2-3 dozen islands to meet people, find spirits to help and gather resources. Spiritfarer has a lot of tedious chores that needs to be done in order to advance the game forward and they mostly focuses on either mining metals, harvesting crops and fishing. Certain more exotic things can be collected in various mini-games involving platform jumping and these are basically the only "challenges" that Spiritfarer offers besides the emotional one.
The game is sometimes rather vague about where you need to go or what you need to do and I got stuck about 2-3 times. It is a bit curious that a game that is all about the narrative still has trouble conveying what it wants you to do.
It's too bad that so much time is dedicated to tedious activities since the game would've been even easier to recommend with better pacing. It still is a gem though.
