Save the Colony! Your staff are brawling, the Harvester Robot is happily chain sawing its way through the oxygen supply, and small, furry, and troublesome aliens have conquered the disco. Welcome home! Each of your colonists has a mind of their own so remember the golden rule: a happy colonist is a productive colonist. Ignore them and their needs and they’ll pick fights, argue, and even get depressed. Nurture them, however, and they will work hard for you, become friends, and maybe even fall in love!
You’ve mastered building simulated life on Earth. Let’s see how you do with the rest of the galaxy. Welcome to Space Colony, where your life is in the hands of an unruly group of fellow space rejects. With over 100 buildings at your disposal, it’s up to you to build a colony that meets all the colonists’ needs and keeps them safe and happy. So before you shell out all your credits on iron extraction and space chicken production to bring in the cash, remember, that without a gym, a sauna, or a half-decent restaurant, nobody’s going to want to work for you!
Learn diplomacy or charge up the shields. Contact with 20 alien races will give you plenty of opportunities to decide.
Inspire your crew to work in harmony and watch productivity increase. Make them unhappy, and you’d better post a guard at the reactor.
Increase your wealth and power by mining and selling minerals, or use your resources to create items to improve your colony.
This is an old game, but the HD update is nice.
The MAC version runs great - it is a nicely packaged WineSkin and runs without issue.
Being a frugal laptop user, I keep my selection of games to those with reasonable disk space and compute resource needs.
This is a fun game, though the micromanagement of trying to get people to pick up trash or talk to each other is a little odd. I've never played 'the Sims', though I played the Sim City, Sim whatever games quite a bit.
There is a good walkthru available on the 'net, for those of you, like me, with very limited time to repeat failed strategies.
Loved playing this game as a kid and am super chuffed that I can just download it again now. I still have the CD and case but couldn't get it to run, so this is just nostalgic goodness! :)
I just completed this game - FANTASTIC!
I really enjoyed this, the learning curve was smooth and the game was challenging but just enough to keep me coming back with a new strategy every time until I had it licked.
If you like resource management, a little strategic combat, defence, fog of war explore games with characters whose personalities and skills you can really get to know and also effect how you deploy them, then this is the game to go for.
Great price too for something so playable. I will definitely play this through again in a few months time - it took me several enjoyable weeks to finish.
GOOD JOB!
its a game from my childhood that I was rather fond of, now it seems much easier but also a great way of base building, and I think it is rather refreshing to try the game again, and discover the gameplay once more
