Save the Colony! Your staff are brawling, the Harvester Robot is happily chain sawing its way through the oxygen supply, and small, furry, and troublesome aliens have conquered the disco. Welcome home! Each of your colonists has a mind of their own so remember the golden rule: a happy colonist is a productive colonist. Ignore them and their needs and they’ll pick fights, argue, and even get depressed. Nurture them, however, and they will work hard for you, become friends, and maybe even fall in love!
You’ve mastered building simulated life on Earth. Let’s see how you do with the rest of the galaxy. Welcome to Space Colony, where your life is in the hands of an unruly group of fellow space rejects. With over 100 buildings at your disposal, it’s up to you to build a colony that meets all the colonists’ needs and keeps them safe and happy. So before you shell out all your credits on iron extraction and space chicken production to bring in the cash, remember, that without a gym, a sauna, or a half-decent restaurant, nobody’s going to want to work for you!
Learn diplomacy or charge up the shields. Contact with 20 alien races will give you plenty of opportunities to decide.
Inspire your crew to work in harmony and watch productivity increase. Make them unhappy, and you’d better post a guard at the reactor.
Increase your wealth and power by mining and selling minerals, or use your resources to create items to improve your colony.
This is yet another example of post year 2000 games.
A great idea that went like 50% of the way and got published.
For example, just after one hour or so of gameplay, you have seen everything that the game has to offer you.
It is very shallow and lack depth.
The idea is great, but they only went 50% of the way in the game design...
So, you get tired of the game quite quickly since there is very little stuff in it to do or to build.
I bought this game when it first came out in 2003. WONDERFUL. I loved it! Sadly i dont have the computer i used to play it on. :( But i recommend this game. its really good! This game can pull you in for hours, and when you finally lose focus, its either because you have to eat, or use the bathroom! Its like the sims yet not, the characters dont do their own things, as i remember. You have to tell them what to do and tell them what to do after that. Like giving them a list of chores. Its Sci-Fi, Tycoon, City Builder, and a Campaign Mashed all together. If you want to see what the game is like, go to youtube for a taste, you can see the gameplay, which there are two routes. A tourism, vacation, family fun experience route, making colonies for tourists, or making a self sufficient base that mines for minerals and defends itself from aliens. Havent bought this HD version yet because i want to know if its compatible with my Yosemite, and Mavericks, (Mac) computers. Hope there will be a great newer sequel to this in the future! Happy Gaming! :D
Fun resource management, space base builder, defense, and sim management. I would'nt say this game is perfect, but for less $5 its a decent buy. Play the tutorial missions you'll find what this game has to offer. The biggest minus I can say is dealing with the "Sims" emotional needs and relationship management. Although its an annoyance to make sure everyone likes home, work, and each other it doesn't ruin the complete experience.
