maps maps and more players maps hours and days of play you dont find that these days loved homm back in the day full game for sure . more factions needed tho and low pixel count makes it hard to see
Yes. As I played this game, it feels less like a Heroes of Might and Magic inspired game, an more like it was inspired by something else.
What with player must choose which creature dwellings they can build in their main town. Supports from smaller town. Random skill and skill upgrade to choose for each level-ups. Only 4 factions(or maybe 5 if there's DLC planned).
You know what those features reminds me of ? Disciples. And Disciples 2.
This game feels like how a sequel to Disciples II suppose to look like. And that is not a bad thing. In fact, it is a beautiful thing.
Also, it's kinda insane, that this game is, as of right now, only at its 0.75 version, and already felt like it is bugless and run smoothly on a, for todays gaming rig standard, potato VN7 laptop.
When Songs of Conquest compared to the actual successor of Disciples 2, that is Disciples III, let me put it in an analogy:
If Disciples 2 is The King Robert who left The Iron Throne empty, then Disciples III is The Geoffrey; And Songs of Conquest is The Jon Snow.
So, yeah, this game is not a "Spiritual Successor" to Heroes of Might and Magic(I think Hero's Hour is more than appropriate to earn that title). It is Much Much Better.
The game is by no means a Heroes of Might and Magic 3 clone – in some aspects it feels better – good game design decisions in the form of army and hero limits that curb certain tedious and boring strategies and shorten player turns, so far better balance, campaign story worth reading through and a community that is bustling with life .
In other aspects it is worse – especially the atmosphere, visual design and music imo – but that's a bar set very high and, mind you, those aspects are still at a competent level.
With the level of balance and amount of content the game could easily pass as a finished title rather than early access, and a finished title very much worthy of your time.
Claims of AI cheating *a bit* seem kind of true, at least in the campaign mode, but you can still finish it and enjoy it (I certainly did).
Two thumbs up from me. I'll be playing the game for a long time.
