If you were ever wanting to learn the rules to DnD before playing the actual game this is definately for you! Its a great story, and i've not even touched the DLCs yet!
Great combat and movement. Interrupts are well done and feel fun. Great fights. Sucks you cant blast bad guys before combat. I cast a fireball on a group of bad guys and the fireball does nothing and is just wasted.
Great scavenger system I hope all CRPGs include this system.
Teammates all talk to each other and have great backgrounds and story and side quests. NPC party members are really cool.
Fly spell needs a lot of work. Bugged a lot of the time. Also the controls for flight needs a tutorial. Doesn't feel like flying at all.
Boring main story you can guess everything that's going to happen.
Very tedious and unfun puzzles. Every time I got to a puzzle I was like, "Youtube save me."
Loot is very disappointing. Kill a hard boss and you get a bunch of rocks and plants and stuff. Which you have to craft good loot. Finished the game with a bunch of +1 weapons cause the game makes you reputation grind to get crafting mats to craft good loot. Leave the reputation grinding for MMOs. If I have gold let me buy your stuff. Make it just for discounts, not restricting buying.
Loots doesn't always drop from bad guys unlike real D&D. So you can kill a Ranger with a whole bunch of magic items and he doesn't drop any of them or he will drop a potion and grass/rocks.
You can only equip 3 magic Items per character and you have to finish a long rest for each one which is really tedious resting 3 or 4 times each time you fight different bad guys.
You must Identify items to get the bonuses to work. Unlike real D&D where you can just wear it. makes it more like Diablo 2 Identifying.
Only armor makes your character look any different and the quest item crown.
Game needed a better name. I tell my friends I am playing Solasta and they thought is was medication.
I would give this 4.5 if I could, but it's closer to 5 stars than 4. The game itself is great, the combat is impressive, and it really feels like a tabletop game. By the end your characters feel appropriately powerful, and the story (while not groundbreaking) was great. I only wish all classes were offered, and there was more game!
Luckily with Dungeon Maker, I expect lots of new content from games everywhere! Pick this one up!
