Silver, a corrupt and sinister sorcerer, rules the land of Jarrah with an iron fist. He and his henchmen have abducted the village women as part of a pact with the almighty god, Apocalypse. Now, only one man can put a stop to Silver and his minions. That man is you, David, a promising young knight whose wife is among the captured. In order to succeed you'll need to recruit allies, master your swordplay, learn the art of magic, and venture through hostile worlds teeming with Silver's corrupt followers to find 8 lost artifacts. Begin your quest, and become a hero!
Silver is the European answer to JRPGs, which were very popular at the time. With eye-candy in the form of pre-rendered 2D backgrounds, manga-inspired character design, and console-style gameplay, it introduced PC gamers to a new genre. This game is very unique on PC as there are only a few such titles on this platform, so if you feel like trying a different approach to role-playing, then this is a title for you!
Form your party from a cast of interesting and diverse characters, each with their own unique traits.
Gripping story and polished gameplay combine to make a “simple” RPG that’s still a lot of fun.
Unique combat system with real-time, fast-paced action--you assume direct control over one of the characters, and the rest of your team fights on their own.

I once bought this game when i had 10 years old...now i'm 23 almost 24 and i really cannot believe that in 13 years not even a sequel came out....i'm really excited on getting this on again and end it again and again :D
5/5
It's a must to have. Stop.
I have such mixed memories of this game. I was like 10-12 when I got this, and loved it. Absolutely just adored the game. Then I came to a point that couldn't be passed without crashing. Started the game over, hoping it would work now, and still crashed. Then I switched to our second computer, played for a while, and it crashed even sooner. I tried absolutely everything I could think of and couldn't make it work. That really sucked. Installing now, gonna try if I can finally beat this.
Don't attempt to play this on a laptop.
This game requires a ACTUAL mouse and an ACTUAL keyboard, because this is how you interact in the game, at all times.
There are left-handed controls!
Silver (1999) is an Action Role-Playing Game where combat takes place on the overworld. You run around the world in this view. Then, when enemies appear on screen, combat will start without changing screens or views. After all enemies are dead, the game will allow you to click on the next objective.
Exploration is performed with the mouse. You click on a part of the area, and your selected character will go walk over there. If you double click, he will run. In order to enter a building or go to the next area, your cursor will show a little door, you'll click, and then your characters will run over to enter the door/area.
Combat is also performed with the mouse. Melee Weapon: click on an enemy to target them, hold down CTRL, then make a swiping motion with the mouse, and let go. Ranged Weapon: Click on the enemy, and keep clicking. Your allies will attack based on the instructions you give them during battle.
On the overworld (as in, for exploring and combat), if you want to switch weapons or equipment, you will pull up a menu wheel, click to a submenu, then click the thing you want to equip, use, or eat. If you eat something, the menu will automatically close. If you want to use a health potion, you will need to access the submenu for potions, then select the potion you want to use.
All of this happens in the overworld, fluidly, in real time.
If this sounds frustrating or inelegant to you, that is because, it is, for the exact reasons you think it is. It's like trying to use chopsticks to kill a spider in your bedroom. On a timer.
The production value is pretty high. The music is good; graphics are serviceable; voices are cringy; characters are generic.
Ultimately, the whole package comes together to form mediocre storytelling.
I acquired this back around the time it first came out...forgot I had it and then lost it.
Acquired it again last year and forgot about it again. I've given full stars for originality and colorful aesthetic appeal.
You might experience some horrible sound distortion but I managed to fix mine through trying past operating system emulation in Compatibility mode (Found in Properties on the context menu accessed by right clicking the game's executable or shortcut.).
