Silver, a corrupt and sinister sorcerer, rules the land of Jarrah with an iron fist. He and his henchmen have abducted the village women as part of a pact with the almighty god, Apocalypse. Now, only one man can put a stop to Silver and his minions. That man is you, David, a promising young knight whose wife is among the captured. Silver is the European answer to JRPGs, which were very popular at the time. With eye-candy in the form of pre-rendered 2D backgrounds, manga-inspired character design, and console-style gameplay, it introduced PC gamers to a new genre. This game is very unique on PC as there are only a few such titles on this platform, so if you feel like trying a different approach to role-playing, then this is a title for you!

This gets an automatic 5 star from me. I assumed that Silver was a dead game, that I never where to be able to play it again, I'd done several attempts with VM etc but it always ended up with me not being able to play silver... then I see it here, one of the best games of my childhood finally within my grasps.
This game does not need an review telling you how good it is, you should just be happy to be able to play it. So buy it and play it! Easily one of the best games I've ever played.
Wow, I can't wait for it to finish downloading, I had this game over 10 years ago and it was a masterpiece and will always be, thanks to gog I can now play it....
They dont make RPGs like this anymore, it is a must download.
Back in 1999 when it was originally released our PC wasn't powerful enough to run it properly and years later when I was able to pay for my own hardware the game couldn't run at all because of XP incompatibility issues. But I never gave up hope...
Today, about 15 years after the original release I finally was able to finish this game. Thank you GOG for providing the chance to fulfill one of my long overdue goals!
As for the game itself - it's a great experience. I little hard at times, considering the current standards. For the first half it was pretty hard to track what and where should be done next. In addition the save system is equally unforgiving - a save location appears at specific points in the game, usually prior or after some important event, but you can use them ONLY ONCE. In combination with the fact that you aren't always exactly sure where and/or how to reach your next objective this is pretty hardcore (and annoying at couple of places). Talk about challenge :)
Other than that the story is interesting, nothing too fancy - main character's wife gets abducted by the villain along with most of the young town women and our hero begins his quest to get her back and punish the evil doer. Some additional interesting plot elements unravel along the way and so on...
All in all, the game is great and 15 years later I'm more than satisfied. If you are up for a challenge don't hesitate - $5.99 is a steal!
Damn this is one of the best RPG´s out there along side with Final Fantasy 7,9.
