Perhaps my biggest gripe as someone who loves to be scared is that you’ve seen the extent of how Silent Hill f plans to frighten you within its first half; beyond that, it’s diminishing returns with very few surprises. I like Silent Hill f, but I was prepared to have a love affair with it, and I’m left feeling as foggy as its quiet, ill-fated village.

Great entry in a classic franchise

Quite frankly, this isn't a perfect game (hence why it's not 5 stars), but it's a great entry in the series. No it isn't in the same ballpark as the Team Silent games, but I think they are moving in the right direction and it's exciting! I think it's important to be critical of games that really miss, but this one is way farther toward the bulls-eye than what they put out prior. I recommend for new Silent Hill players absolutely. If you are a diehard Team Silent fan you may have mixed feelings as this game uses a more mainstream game design. I don't fault anyone who is upset by the price. If you are on the fence wait for a sale.

A fresh new entry

This is my Steam review Let me preface this by saying that I played this game in the story difficulty. To get it out of the way, I was worried before launch that the combat would be very difficult making it a more frustrating experience, I'm happy to say that they weren't lying when they said story mode would be a regular Silent Hill experience. The combat is different and at first might feel weird, but I got used to it pretty fast and enjoyed it quite a bit. Now, many things are different from previous entries in the series but I did feel I was playing a Silent Hill game and, a great one at that. The environment, the story, the characters, the music, are all excellent. The overall story is told in a very unsettling way and in fact there are a few scenes that are among the most messed up stuff I saw in any Silent Hill. In conclusion, I'm very glad that they did something different with f, it's a breath of fresh air. Silent Hill is finally back and I'm here for it.

Awesome game

Bought the game on Steam and I've really enjoyed it. I wish they had released on GoG at the same time, or at least announced it was coming as I would have purchased it here.

New masterpiece

Great visuals, deep and haunting story. Tension builds perfectly — classic Silent Hill atmosphere. Runs smooth, no issues. And best of all — now DRM-free. 10/10 horror done right.
