The apex of the 4X genre
For five years (from the original game's release until 1999 until Rome: Total War came out in 2004), this was my answer to "what's the greatest game of all-time?" It takes the Civilization formula, turns it up to eleven, then shoots it into space. A masterpiece that remains the gold standard for its style of game and is just as playable 14 years later as it was on release day.

Loved this game
This is #3 on my all time Civ series games there is aspects to this civ game that I wish carried forward into the modern Civ V series (such as underwater cities as one) Great game and must play for any Civ fanatic

Can play Alpha Centauri again!
Haven't played SMAC yet because I've just bought it and it's still installing on my PC (might be done when I've written this), but I'm so happy I bought it today! I've played SMAC for months with over 1000 hours total, until my old XP machine broke down and it wouldn't run anymore on my Win7 machine. Good that GoG has classics like this and that they make sure they run on modern day machines - I can finally play one of my most beloved sim games again!

Civilization v2.5
Based on Civilization 2 isometric engine, this game is awesome becase of: - Dedicated story; - Great map idea - special places with bonuses, "planet life", terraforming; - Unique diplomacy. Love to play this game 2-3 times a year. Brilliant
By far my favourite strategy game. Doesn't have the slick graphics the new games have but the gameplay is great. Well done for making this available again.
