superb
lots of way to play and win. Lots of ways to build. Neat sc fi premise. Definately my favourite TBS game, that has lasted decades.

An all-time classic
A great illustration of how simpler is better. Instead of layering on game mechanics until no one can master the game, it shows the depth that can be acheivedwith synergy between a few simple mechanics. As close as you can get to the original Civ 2 experience on a 64-bit OS.
