You walk around in nightmarish surroundings and stick your fingers in openings. This reveals phallic objects which you stick in bigger openings. That reveal even bigger phallic objects you stick in even bigger openings to operate a giant claw or an elevator.
Occasionally you have to shoot a colon-dog or a boob-chicken.
Minus one star for the mini-games a hidden object game would be ashamed of.
Would recommend.
Hear me out, I know its a crowded market, but Scorn truly is best "walking through a Zdzisław Beksiński painting with DSBM music playing" simulator out there. It's not even close.
Finished the game only a couple of moments ago.
Playtime was around 6h, but I was also looking a LOT at the scenery.
Scorn is a walking sim. Yes, you will get guns and have to battle enemies (if you wish you can also avoid them), but the shooting part wasnt my focus.
The scenery was.
And what a beautiful game this is.
Also you have to solve puzzles. There arent mind bending, but not too easy either. And it isnt obvious what you have to do from the first second on. Dont get yourself demotivated by that. Just look how the stuff reacts and take a closer look at the puzzle, then you will see the solution.
The visuals are outstanding. Beksinski is obviously one of the major influences and later on you see the Gigeresk stuff,
The amount of unique assets, models and textures is just stunning.
It draws you into that desolate world.
You wake up and try to get through a complex of some sort. You know nothing and nobody will give you a briefing. No mission markers, no texts, no audiologs. Only the structures around you.
There are obviously some themes there (which im not gonna spoil. Make up your own mind as it is intended).
The waiting was worth it.
I really hope, that the devs will uuuuuuuuuuwork on another great title!
This game has a unique design, I ve never seen anything like that before.
The games is inspired in H. R. Giger alien style. A lot of bizarre and intelligent puzzles. Great game .
The game was very much so worth the wait. The puzzles are just the right difficulty, they challenge you- but not so much that they're frustratingly complicated. The combat is satisfying once you get comfortable with your arsenal and get prober weaponry beyond the tool gun- however combat is thrown in your face rather fast when you pick up the tool gun which was almost a turn off, but if you stick it out the rest of the experience is well worth it. The game really makes you think about how you ration your health and ammunition and how you deal with your encounters with enemies. For anyone looking to get into the game, if you want to properly understand the world I would very much recommend reading the art book while you play as it gives you insight to what everything actually is, their names and purpose and things start coming together from there. The game will throw you into the world, no hand holding and not tell you anything about anything as expected from the experience that they're selling, and it performs this very well. It's a rather short game, you can probably beat it in 4 hours, but it feels just right once you get to that ending.
Overall though, if you're looking for a slower paced puzzle shooter with a very unique art style, this might be up your ally.
