In truth, Scorn doesn’t tell a particularly fascinating story, but it hardly matters; the way in which it’s told is done to perfection, and provides an incredibly refreshing horror experience that truly gets under your skin.

Scorn works wonders with Giger's and Beksiński's artwork, not only in terms of aesthetic fidelity but in creating a world that's utterly strange to exist in. This is a violent, painful, but fascinating place, thick with symbolism and interlocking puzzles that hint at some terrifying grand design. While it can be overly obscure and frustrating, especially in combat, Scorn serves up one hell of a journey.

Scorn is a hard game to pin down, but it’s one I can’t help but recommend. It’s disgustingly alluring in its visual execution, with each new location bringing with it a waterfall of questions as you poke, prod, and cower at every discovery. This ambition of being artsy and cryptic can hold it back at points, but there’s something fiercely admirable in its artistic vision that few games in the genre are able to match. This is a tragic horror of Lovecraftian proportions, and one that really must be seen to be believed.

Unique experience, but not for everyone
Scorn is a unique game that blends puzzle-solving with an eerie atmosphere, later incorporating some shooting mechanics. Its surreal and distinct art style feels more like an “experience” than a traditional game, which stands out in a crowded gaming market. That said, the game ultimately wasn’t for me. I went in expecting a Doom-style shooter, only to find a non-linear puzzle game with little guidance. While the visuals were intriguing, I found the lack of tutorials, text, or clear objectives frustrating. Having to rely on walkthroughs to progress dampened my enjoyment, and I gave up after a few hours. Overall, while Scorn might appeal to fans of atmospheric and unconventional games, I can’t recommend it to those who prefer clear direction or traditional gameplay.

Scorn’s Atmosphere and Art Shine Despite
The sound effects in Scorn are absolutely incredible, amplifying the fear factor and immersing you in the game's eerie atmosphere. The puzzles are enjoyable and well-designed, providing a fun challenge. While the combat feels somewhat clunky, it seems intentional, as the game encourages avoiding direct confrontations. The art design is breathtaking, perfectly complementing the claustrophobic atmosphere and enhancing the overall experience.

Audiovisual feast
I don't see this game as game per se, but almost as a work of art. Gameplay could use some improvement, but audiovisuals make it worth playing. For all Giger fans.

Atmospheric
The biomechanical atmosphere is really cool and gameplay is enjoyable. I only have a few hour in, and so far the puzzels have been pretty simple hopefully they increase in dificulty.
