The Holy War is over. The demons of Gologotha have been banished, yet the cost has been terribly high. The Creator, god of the Fyllid, has been defeated and the faith of the people has begun to wane. Petty squabbles among the five remaining gods has caused the land to split into five mystical territories - each at war with one another. Into this divided land steps a wizard, a man haunted by his past, whose choices will shape the future.
Which god will he choose? Will he sacrifice himself to change this world for the better, or will what remains of this world be sacrificed for one god's glory?
Take a journey behind-the-scenes of one of David Perry's favourite games with the Sacrifice editorial.

If you still have your copy it will run just fine on Vista and XP, but if you weren't fortunate enough to play this years ago you have to buy it now. The only problem with this game is that it can be troublesome to order your units around the way you want.
I like a good challenge, but Sacrifice frustrated me for a while before I began experimenting a bit more with the way I was playing. It's fun most of the way, for certain, and the visuals are certainly good for their time, brought upward in quality by the amazing sound design - voice cast, music, and effects are all incredible. The creativity involved in both the style and the units themselves is also great, along with the diversity of deities that leads to diversity of units and spells. This game, as far as I have played games, is unique in its experience and quality. For 6 bucks, pick this up now.
The Best of RTS and 3D Elemental Spell Casting combined. Everything in this game is unique and original. Single Player mode has multiple endings that can't compare to any other storyline, the cinematic of the game is well constructed and you can't go wrong with scapex.exe to make your very own cinematic story map. If you thought Single Player mode was hard, wait until you join the online community, it's twice as challenging.
This game is by far one of the finest games ever created. The gameplay is an amazing mix of 3rd person action and real time strategy. By "Sacrifice" they mean you have to obtain souls to sacrifice for better spells and monsters. You have limited control over your mosters (having them follow you, protect you, protect buildings or attack) and you have a group of powerful spells to support your monsters and even lead attacks with. The gameplay involves building up your monsters and spells while traversing the field to obtain more resource nods and eventually destroying your enemies alter.
You get to choose one of five gods to follow, each with their own unique personalities, which determine your monsters and spells. The monsters are very similar in each case (flyer, tank, ranged, soldier, etc.) but the spells are a little different, ranging from volcanic erruptions to tornados to healing and direct damage spells.
The games graphics were done in a way that allows the game to age well. Many of the techniques involved in the creation of the graphics were simplified, allowing the contrast from old to new not to affect it so much as say FFVII to FFXII.
The sounds are one of the best parts of the game. The voice acting is spectacular, both in quality and writing. The spells that you cast are cast by your character reciting latin words strung together with a slight echo added for great affect.
The story for the single player game is fun to run through, especially with the personalities of the gods (the chemistry there is electrifying). Parts of it get dull because much of what you are doing for one god is very similar to another, but the quality of the game quickly erases any redundant parts.
Overall, this is an excellent game and a must play for any gamer. A classic title made by a great team!!
This game is one of those marvelous older games that truly destroyed my social life for a time. The story and gameplay are phenominal, and I wish there were copycats or sequels. The replayability factor alone makes it more than worth the price - you choose from 5 dieties, but you can change your mind after each mission and shift your alignment.. and each time you get to a new level, its a new spell given by that diety. You can be a purist, and get all of one dieties spells, or a sampler, or some combination and it changes the gameplay entirely. 100% pure liquid awesome.
