Happy Grinding!

Played this online co-op and got maybe half way thru. It's a perfectly reasonable grinding, action RPG, but to me it got sunk by its sameness. The storyline wasn't particularly compelling but, even worse, the character customization, my favorite part of any RPG, just wasn't that interesting. Bash away at countless enemies, and then continue to do it more. Just a little too much grinding for me without enough strategy or character growth. Probably more like 3.5 stars, as it is above average but I wouldn't put it into the 4 out of 5 stars category.

i remembered it better

i had tons of fun with this title when i was little. Hell, even demo stole my hearth and few hours of life. But now when i'm older, i can't find any fun in Ancaria, most of the classes and spells are boring, playing the game as a melee fighter (like Vampire) wiht only one AoE skill is damn annoying, enemies with 'earthbind' spell and only few portals slow the gameplay. Easter eggs and whole map is nice piece of work, but overall experience lost it charm after these 14 years.

The beautiful game.

The beautiful game from Diablo's clones series. Perfect who seeks discreet and very good designed game with isometric hack&slash. The game is beautifully graphical designed, nice surroundings, different classes and races, intuitive way of character development. Should add to this the large and diverse open world, unobtrusive long story, a lot of side quests, itemhunting. In my view the first part of Sacred is much better the next parts.

co-op review

I only played Sacred as co-op over a local LAN. Original CD version. Overall, I enjoyed the game. I agree with others that the re-spawning made some parts tedious. It wouldn't be a big deal if the player did not have to re-traverse areas multiple times, but you do for the gazillion quests. The world/map is huge. I enjoyed that the character skills were very different between characters, like Diablo II. I was sad to see that the vampiress was not available in later add-ons. (and that my experience points did not carry over. Perhaps that was fixed in a patch?) We also experienced the various bugs that others have mentioned. I don't know how well the GOG version resolves them. We stopped playing because somehow the horses got out of sync between players. Without horses, travel is more tedious. We tried lots of things to get the horses back in sync to no avail. It sucks when one player has a horse but the other does not. We eventually gave up. Due to that, we did not complete the game. The game would be a 4 star to me (for a Diablo-type game), but due to the bugs I dropped it to a two star.

Great Fun. Many Diverse Characters.

I found this game several years ago in Grace Bros, Sydney. I've played through the Seraphim, Vampiress and Wood Elf. All were wondrous characters. The game starts off in different locations, depending on player character. Each character has his or her own unique skills. The world Ancaria is huge, and fun to explore. You get lost playing this game. You got lost in Ancaria. I enjoyed it immensely. It is worth entering Ancaria.
