Played it years ago, a very fun game
It's a very underrated game with many mechanics absent from nowaday's games..., pity that pandemic studios closed, it deserved better.

A good game with some flaws
The saboteur takes gameplay elements from GTA and Assassin's Creed then combines them with occupied Paris in WW2. The main story is excellent with good variety with each setting but the continuity between missions begins to creak at the end, as if the developers ran out of time or money for a cut-scene. The Saboteur has good pacing as a result of smooth combat in combination with a robust main character, Sean. The currency of the in-game world is contraband; you gain this by blowing up Nazi targets such as tanks, fixed gun emplacements, towers etc. Taking them on, especially in the city, tends to become a chore relatively quickly. Fortunately there are far, far more targets then necessary to cover your in-game expenses but it's a shame there isn't another benefit. The game engine has some annoying quirks, particularly with the destructible environment. Some things, such as fences and posts, can be destroyed when driving but you'll come to a stop after hitting a small bush. The game's controls, particularly when climbing, aren't great either and I found them more lethal than the enemy on early levels. Some people have mentioned stability issues. On a PC with i5 processor and ATi/AMD R9, I had two or three crashes when playing through but this didn't significantly detract from the experience (largely because of the auto-save and quick save, F5, functions). All in all, it's still a good game but let down by a lack of variety with the open world activities.

Brilliant game, a true masterpiece
IGNORE THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS ABOUT MULTICORE ISSUES - I played it on a Ryzen 1700 and 5700X3D (both 8core) without any manual patches, and it worked perfectly fine. The only technical issue I ran into is that if you set the graphics settings (note that there's a seperate executable for those) above 1920x1080 @60Hz, the game will run at 640x480 with everything set to low quality (even though available settings go much higher). Also, note that GOG Galaxy won't sync your savegames, so if you need to reinstall Windows, you better create a manual backup. Now to the game itself: The only criticism is that the controls aren't as refined as on modern games, but that really is the only thing that isn't perfect about this game. If you liked the older GTA games (like San Andreas) and Assassins Creed, chances are you will love this game. I really wish that there was a remaster, but if you make use of modern graphics driver's "beautification" options (like enforced AA & AF etc), you can really get this game to look pretty amazing for it's age (for Nvidia, go to 3D settings in the control panel, and add the game manually, then you can set specific settings for it - AND makes accessing these a lot simpler & more user friendly). I had to restart the game even though I was far into it because I reinstalled Windows, but I am still enjoying it thoroughly at a partially 2nd playthrough. The game really invites you to spend as much time as you like, as you will always find something to do. Whether you choose the stealthy way, or go in guns blazing, the choice is yours and most missions can be completed either way.

Unforgetfull atmosphere
This game is a gem of the PS3/360 generation. One that deserved more time in development and definitely more attention from gamers but the guys at PANDEMIC still managed to deliver an AMAZING experience. If you enjoy games like Mercenaries or Just Cause and you want to kick ass this is THE GAME for you. WWII, Amazing soundtrack, nice cars...nice guns and pretty babes. One can't ask for more! Come on monsieur...the French resistance needs ya!

Top o' the mornin' to ya!
...or whatever bloody time it is. Possibly the greatest World War II themed action game ever and a strong contender for a game to take to a deserted island or on a lifelong space mission. It has everything a man may need for quality entertainment: - nearly infinite amounts of silly yet satisfying fun in freeplay mode, - pretty good and varied mission design, - pulpy story with humor and melodrama galore, - great atmosphere, - charming, cozy open world, - nice titties, - cool cars and enjoyable driving model (also: tanks), - decent arsenal and some neat tricks (like using car bombs), - absolute banger of a soundtrack, - Skylar, - and some of the cheesiest lines ever recorded for a video game. I only wish it had more diversions other than blowing things up and messing around, like street racing especially feels underutilized.
