Excellent "choose-your-own-adventure".

This is an extremely well crafted "Choose your own adventure" game. The art and music are top-notch; it is very well written and designed; and I enjoyed it quite a lot. I played on easy mode because I don't like time limits in videogames, but ended up leaving on 40th day anyway, for roleplay's sake, I guess, and because I felt it was time to go, even with some mysteries left unsolved. Good playtime, very well balanced. This is a game for explorers. The area may not be huge, but is filled with people and interactions. You do have choices to make, and you will have some impact on this world. I found it quite immersive, and this peninsula now belongs to my personal lore. Nice inspiration for game masters, I guess. Only default I can think of is : with this amount of text, there is no chance to see this game ever translated in other languages, so this is for people with solid english only. As I said, I really enjoyed this game. Very nice surprise. What started as a "let's grab this discounted game, it has good grades and seems original", might end up as the game I will best remember from this summer. I sure will remember this north peninsula and it's inhabitants. My congrats to the dev. 'tis an amazing job ya done, lad.

Very enjoyable down-to-earth fantasy

I´m still enjoying Roadwarden very much after some 25 hours of play. I didn`t expect it to have so much content, it´s great. The map and illustrations help to situate yourself in the action. I find it quite challenging, but the possibility to save and load at will gives flexibility when playing. Thanks for this little gem!

Great text-based RPG

I was very pleasantly surprised with this game! It absolutely nails the atmosphere - the music, the sounds, the writing (most of the time), the challenges you face - all of them fit the setting and the plot of the game. Do not expect an action RPG, do not expect high production values. It does what it's supposed to very well, however. The game does get overly verbose at times, especially towards the end. If you are a completionist, like I am, be warned that uncovering all of the story will most likely require multiple playthroughs, Playing as a mage feels a bit underwhelming (scholar is absolutely the way to go). Great title to enjoy at night, with a warm cup of tea on the side, when you need a bit of peace and quiet.

Pure enjoyment

I did not expect to like this game so much. The lack of pretty graphics and large amounts of text made me wary, but it's such a well-made game that an hour in it didn't matter anymore. It has a gritty, realistic feeling to it, where you often go in blind when making difficult decisions or deciding who to trust, slowly extract clues from your surroundings and rely on your notes, and constantly are in danger so you make sure to greedily snatch up every advantage you can get your hands on. I loved it, and got really invested in the quest lines and characters. If you like story-driven games and playing strategically, this game is just the thing. I am already looking forward to replaying it, and hoping I forget everything about the story until then!

A hauntingly beautiful story

This game is essentially an interactive novel, a text-based RPG adventure with minimalist graphics. Everything is lovingly narrated in prose, showcasing the struggles of a fantasy land caught in the inexorable march of history, and of the different souls that dwell in it. This isn't a tale of great heroes, of cataclysmic wars or of world-rending magic; it's a tale of human life, of hardship, loss, struggle, and -most importantly- of hope. Anyone who enjoys low fantasy and who isn't averse to reading owes it to themselves to play this game and leave their own mark on the peninsula.
