The Glade of Dreams is up in arms again! This idyllic world, where there is usually little more to do than eat, sleep, play (and enjoy a friendly fray or two among friends), is up to its eyeballs in trouble. It seems Rayman and his heroic gang of hilarious misfits has kicked off a war with just a little snoring! Their nightmarish neighbors from the Land of the Livid Dead don’t seem to share the same taste in music and have come to crash the party! Never ones to shy away from a challenge, Rayman and his friends are more than happy to knock these nasty killjoys back to oblivion, especially since it involves saving nymphs, making mischief, and earning fantastic new powers to make even more mischief. And this won’t be the first time! As it turns out, the fun-loving Creator of the Glade, known as Bubble Dreamer, is a highly sensitive being whose every mood impacts the Glade for good or bad! Rayman has had to beat back the creatures of Bubble Dreamer’s nightmares before, and that’s what he, Globox, and the crafty Teensy casters are going to do again before the fabric of the Glade falls to pieces and their entire world fades like a bad dream.
Rayman Origins brings back many of the classic characters, revived in their original 2D form, as well as a whole new world of characters and environments. Discover the roots of Rayman by collecting pieces of the Glade’s history, and assemble them to reveal the truth behind Rayman’s origins. Can't remap controls. Screen size wrong.
Game would not let me remap the controls. I want to use the D-pad on my controller and the game won't recognize it. It insists that I use the joystick. The game stretches past the boundaries of my standard widescreen monitor. No resolution seemed to get all of the text on screen. It's a shame, I was looking forward to this. I had the original Rayman on Jaguar. I can't play it like this.

Great game but no achievements
The game itself is great and it is very VERY challenging if you are going for completion and I would give it 4/5 stars (some inaccuracy on the engine stops it from being perfect). However the hidden level "Land of the livid dead", which was painful to finish, made me surprised as I had done it since the game doesn't register that you completed it and the only thing you may get is an achievement on the PS3 and Xbox versions. Nothing here since they didn't include any achievement. I know that I should just enjoy the game and nothing more but sometimes is nice to have even a single line of text that tells you that you have accomplished a really hard challenge, and this doesn't happen here...

Not really doing it for me...
First of all, unlike seemingly everyone else, I'm not really a fan of reverting back to 2D. Rayman 2 was absolute perfection. Rayman 3 was also a very good follow up. But here, we're back to seemingly randomly strewn about 2D levels where the only goal seems to be to "collect stuff". In a way where you MUST collect a certain amount of the said stuff to even be able to progress. Most levels also take a couple of minutes at most, giving off the vibe that it's been designed for consoles and/or mobiles. I am also not really a fan of this art style. For a lack of a better term, I'd say it's a bit too... "wacky"? Loved the art style of the 3D Raymen, but this really isn't doing it for me. Most people seem to love it though, so I might be the weird one here... Gone is the feeling of grand adventure from Rayman 2 and 3, working your way towards defeating the main villain through sprawling, intricately designed and, later on, quite complicated levels. You only goal here is to collect stuff, so you can unlock more levels to, you guessed it, collect even more stuff. The ability to change the character you're playing as also feels quite off. Probably a side effect of the 4 player co-op, but it just seems weird that you can play as any random character any time you want. I'm playing a Rayman game, not a Globox, Teensies or whatever else game. Unfortunately, due to all of the above, I stopped playing the game after a couple of hours. Still giving it a 5/10 though, because I can see how a "no strings attached" and simply a "4fun" platformer can have its appeal. I'm just providing a perspective of how as a huge fan of Rayman 2 and 3, this game simply doesn't click with me. I grew up with those 2 and played them to death and I just can't seem to enjoy this otherwise very well acclaimed entry in the series. If you haven't played a Rayman game before, go for it. If you have, then just be aware that this might not be what you expect.
