Rayman 2: The Great Escape

This game is really quite a fun thing to play and it still feels tight to play all these years on. The levels are well designed and aside from the bonus levels the difficulty is not too hard. Rayman is well animated and only rarely do I feel let down by the controls. Story is short and to the point, only there to give an excuse to travel the world and see all those different environments. I did take a star off because it does show its age in a technical sense; It wouldn't recognise my Xbone controller so I had to go find a fix on the web (which was very easy and works great now), no rebinding of controls either and the audio/video menu don't do much. It's really a small niggle though as it didn't detract from the fun.

This was easily one of the most visually pleasing games in existence when it was first released, and thanks to having its own unique style -- think of Team Fortress 2 which in appearance aims for a distinct "look and feel" rather than symmetry and realism -- as well as hauntingly beautiful music (for which people are still today hunting for the soundtrack, you can find clips on YouTube -- "Wods of Light" is probably my own favourite) this title easily stands the test of time. I wouldn't even hesitate about this one. Buy it today!

One of the best things besides the gameplay, story and humour of Rayman 2: The Great Escape was the music since the very first second I played it. It really raises the mood. In fact my favorite song "Attack Run" from the level with the flying rocket was one hell of a flight and I played it a lot. Not only because it's difficult, but the melody just caugth me and I didn't stop playing it, until the level itself was not a problem anymore at all. Some other games would leave myself bugged out if a level was so difficult and I had to hear the same song over and over again. Not Rayman 2. Sure, there are a lot of other OSTs of games and I listen to a lot of them but the nostalgia is strong with this one.

Sorry this is not a review but an honest question. Because how will i be able to know if this copy actually works and not just wont do anything like all of the other copies you can download on the internet of this game?

It worked fine before but now Rayman 2 crashes on the loading screen to the first level after you escape from the ship at the start of the game. The loading bar gets 90% of the way across, stops and then it crashes to desktop with nary an error message. There are a few posts about this on the forum and none of them have working solutions. Don't waste your money: wait until they fix the fucking game before buying it.
