I wasn't able to continue the game because it didn't noticed that I already got the potion so yeah....
But I loved this game in my childhood....
That's just sad
OS: Windows 10 after creators update
This game didn't age so well. Platform levels are too linear and easy, but the occasional mini-games are totally clumsy and glitchy as hell, so quite frustrating. The atmosphere is nice but the scenario is boring. Not worth your time, unless your're doing a full Rayman retrospective.
Rayman 2 came out in the days of CD-Rom DRM, and required you to have the game's CD in your PC in order to play. The GOG version has been modified to disable this DRM, but unfortunately only on a surface level. You can start the game and play for a good while without issues, but under certain circumstances that aren't quite clear to me, the DRM can still kick in and put an end to your playthrough.
In my case, half-way through the level "Iron Mountains", a picture of a pirate's head will appear with a warning, blocking the view on the game and thus making it impossible to continue. I tried several methods to remedy this issue that I found in various forums, but none changed a thing about it.
It should be noted that I am playing the game through Wine on Linux, and using a HD texture mod. This could well be part of the cause, but again, the game is supposed to be DRM-free, not DRM-disabled *unless* XYZ. The part of the code that can trigger the pirate head shouldn't even be in the game anymore.
I can only recommend against taking one's chances with this version of the game. Emulation is safer.
Ok, Rayman 2 was one of my first real games. It was my first game on the Playstation 2, and I adored it. My problem, however, lies in the difference between the version available here, and the Playstation version. This version of the game has a lack of the hub world of the PS2 version, which made the world feel open and free. That's just my own personal nitpicking, of course. The game is amazing and timeless, and really showed progress in terms of 3D visuals, gameplay, and audio.
Was my favorite game since I'm 4 years old, and it still is one of my favorites today!
This game is just brilliant.
The characters are just awesome, the world is beautiful, the gameplay rocks, and the music? Possibly the best sountrack to have ever been created. Just amazing.
This is probably my favorite classic game. Highly recommended to everyone.
