Down with the sickness!
The game in itself is good: I mean, it's an ID FPS after all. But what gets me is the awesome soundtrack! Back in the days you could just put the game CD in a player and it would explode from the speakers. It's just perfect and gives you the right boost to deal with the Stroggs. The only downside is that is a bit easy: even playing on nightmare it's not that hard comparing to other fps.

Works as well as installing
As with most games from the 90's where the audio was cd based (pre mp3, ogg being the norm). found a great little project that resolves that issue for me https://www.yamagi.org/quake2/ Anyhoo, great little game, and I got to relive my teen years a little.

Quake 2 Enhanced edition is fantastic
For years I had never been able to get into Quake 2, there was always something that felt off and for the longest time I've not been able to put my finger on why. It always stopped me from playing Q2 the whole way through and lose interest. I'm actually enjoying the game now and not gritting my teeth playing it. There are some serious quality of life changes they've made to the game with new enemy behaviours and restored animations. Putting the abilities on a wheel to be activated at an opportune time is such a good addition. It feels truly complete now. Well done!

A nice refresh with some extras
I purchased the original Quake 2 when it came out, but it has become stale over the years. It's nice to see an updated and refreshed version plus the addition of the "Call of the machine" expansion. The inclusion of preproduction artwork is ok, nothing to write home about. It was quake II 64 that that was really fun. I suggest buying it when it goes on sale. Definitely worth it.
