1st game was fun overall and I expected better graphics and a better combat system.
Expectations not met on both accounts! Meh graphics and meh combat system. Also the ship combat is boring.
Dont waste your time and $
Huge performance issues ESPECIALLY on high end systems (just search "stutter" and "freezing" on the steam forums and look at their hardware) that were never fixed.
Horrible constant loading times on everything that isnt SSD (ask the PS4 crowd how well their port runs on their HDD systems - check out reddit)
And even if the game was performance wise in a state where i would call it playable, the story is bad, one of the worst ever written and there is 0 playerinvolvement in the main story - you can influence it at all.
A lot of the systems are barely functional - the bounty system for example is abyssmal. They have like 40-50 bounties in the game and every single quest giver for these only gives them to you ONE AT A TIME and on top of that you have to go back to them personally (they are spread out everywhere on the world) to get your reward everytime. Its a terrible MMO like timesink.
Ship combat is abyssmal lots of threads about that, even the studio themself has acknowledged that.
And lots of other problems.
Unless you have literally played every other game in the genre - stay away from this one and buy Kingmaker/Original Sin/Dragon Age1 or whatever instead.
Deadfire is pretty damn bad.
I'll only leave a warning to any fellow buyers.
If you don't like:
- SJW crap
- Forced politically correct 'romance'
- Poor optimization and low framerates
- Liberal agenda (i.e you'll notice only certain choices aligned with certain political views are rewarded )
- Bland and buggy sea battles
- Brain dead easy combat
in your games, then this isn't for you.
All the voice work is terrible. From direction, to acting, to implementation. Just bad on every level.
RTwP is awful and this game is what convinced me. Turn-Based on isn't much better or a fix.
Character creation is...whatever that is. Frontloaded like mad and generally unfriendly.
The systems are more refined but refined systems don't mean much when they aren't interesting to engage with.
Couldn't refund it...
Disappointment...
Sadness...
