Immerse yourself in Ancient Egypt from the age of the great pyramids to the final years of the New Kingdom. Govern all aspects of the exotic Egyptian, culture from religion to trading with distant cities. Cultivate vast farms in the Nile valley and discover the important role this river, with its unpredictable floods, played in the life of the Egyptians. Stone by stone, erect giant monuments - from the Sphinx, to the lighthouse and library of Alexandria.
Manage your city poorly and you shall watch it burn, be pillaged or collapse in economic ruin. Manage it well and ultimately the greatest Egyptian structures will be built in your honor. Your rule will span generations, until your dynasty, your royal bloodline produces a Pharaoh!
Pharaoh includes many features never before seen in a city building game, such as a farming model based on the flooding of the Nile, naval warfare, giant monuments that are assembled over time, unique dynastic progression, and variable difficulty levels. This a massively addictive, huge, but most importantly fun game that is a great choice for anyone looking for a solid city builder title, or an intellectual challenge.

The game is great. I bought it 2003 or so and lost the disk, but I still have the code. Can I redeem it digitally somehow, because I am not paying second time for a game I bought 10 years ago. Thanks.
The game doesn't run properly on WIndows 10 on my Surface Book. I am super disappointed because I loved this game when it first came out. I guess I will have to be requesting a refund.
I bought this thinking that perhaps the digital version would play better than the disk I had.
Installed it and have had nothing but constant crashing-despite changing settings, putting fixes in, the whole nine yards.
I've come to the sad conclusion that some games are better left in the past, because even with compatibility mode changed and all the reported fixes, the game just simply will not work on anything newer than an Windows XP machine or older.
I'm sad that it's not going to play on Win 7 and up, but life goes on.
I was someone who played this game as a kid and really loved it, however, upon replaying it, its flaws really do show.
Whilst the art style, voices and mechanics are promising, the game is really dragged down by how honestly stupid the pathfinding ai of pretty much all major areas are. If you try and build a city like you would build a normal city, with blocks, residential areas, industrial areas etc you will fail time and time again and everything will be clogged. Dockyards in particular are notoriously bad and clog up all the time. If a house runs out of pottery for two seconds because the bazaar ai forgets to pick some up-Whole regions become slums.
Military is mindnumbingly stupid with 3 enemies often beating entire companies of experienced soldiers.
Whilst there are lots of ways of dealing with these problems, as demonstrated by the anorak pharaoh pros, my key issue with this is they invole making OCD inducing rigid squares, making the city building experience incredibly tedious, formulaic and repetitive. More importantly, you are now being forced to build the city in a way to offset the horrific shortcomings of the game.
I've played this game loads of times, had fun, but enough is enough.
If you like playing a game with one of the worst ais in history-Go ahead.
