Immerse yourself in Ancient Egypt from the age of the great pyramids to the final years of the New Kingdom. Govern all aspects of the exotic Egyptian, culture from religion to trading with distant cities. Cultivate vast farms in the Nile valley and discover the important role this river, with its unpredictable floods, played in the life of the Egyptians. Stone by stone, erect giant monuments - from the Sphinx, to the lighthouse and library of Alexandria.
Manage your city poorly and you shall watch it burn, be pillaged or collapse in economic ruin. Manage it well and ultimately the greatest Egyptian structures will be built in your honor. Your rule will span generations, until your dynasty, your royal bloodline produces a Pharaoh!
Pharaoh includes many features never before seen in a city building game, such as a farming model based on the flooding of the Nile, naval warfare, giant monuments that are assembled over time, unique dynastic progression, and variable difficulty levels. This a massively addictive, huge, but most importantly fun game that is a great choice for anyone looking for a solid city builder title, or an intellectual challenge.

This game is awesome , i spent a lot of time playing this game when i was a child, 100% recommended.
But i have a problem when the structure is active with all of the necessary workers, it dont change to the active animation, for example when you build a gold mine they appear empty but when they have all the workers he appears with an animation in this case the gold mine show a gold color.
Thanks !!!!
I bought Pharaoh in the store when games were still being sold in the bigger boxes. It was my first exposure to city building outside of the first few Simcity games. This has been one of my top five games of my entire life without a doubt in my mind. There were only two issues that I had with the game. The walker mechanics and combat. The walkers thankfully had roadblocks, but I still wish the had implemented a custom pathing system in Cleopatra. This is a very minor gripe, the pathing works ok, more of a personal preference. The second issue I had was combat. It is not well implemented and in my opinion shouldn't be in this game in the way it was implemented. I was fine with sending armies off to war, but defending a city was tedious and clunky. I always opted for the city building challenge when given the choice of two maps. That being said I still give this game a full five stars because the challenge of building a city and meeting the goals of each map is very satisfying and could take a couple hours per map. Very will narrated and the progression through the timeline, seeing the rise and decline of cities, is very engaging and you feel like you are integral part of the story. This is one of the few games I have sunk well over a thousand hours into over the years.
I don't know how many years it's been since I tried my first demos of both these games. I pretty much suck at the genre, too, but still I keep coming back, trying to recreate that one time I actually made it quite far. Both games are like that for me. It's been a while since I got it to work properly on a new computer, so I've bought it here on GOG just to give some cash to those that keep these games alive and accessible to others.
The game mechanichs are good, the way you can speed things up or slow them down to unbearably slow is good, the amount of guides and help online is great. Espescially for someone like me, that generally suck at these games.
Build airier than you think you need.
Weird but it kind of feels like watching a disney movie to me, so animated and full of charactor and immersion.
I remember getting this game when I had one of my earliest PC's, wanting to try this game on countless friends PC's to get the best experience from it.
Like spookypeanut said I could never get into Caesar III or Zeus the way I got into this!
