Although, Pharaoh was no part of my childhood, I am very pleased with it. In my childhood I played a lot of Caesar IV, a game, which I still love and admire (where actually is the sequel? Please, write me if you know something about a Caesar V or so). Pharaoh is like a two-dimensional older brother of Caesar IV, born in Egypt (and reborn by following this link: http://www.wsgf.org/dr/cleopatra-queen-nile/en).
Pharaoh is so much fun! It is true that in the beginning, the game is not that easy, because money runs out quite quickly. But hard work is rewarded very fast, too: There are unique buildings. The reactions of the Gods make sense (oh yeah, that is quite a rarity nowadays!). Very often you must import products from other cities, so you have to think very economically. The Ancient Egypt setting in combination with the music is brilliant. I just cannot believe the year the game was published. I am very surprised by the fact how overwhelming a seemingly out-of-date, two dimensional game can be.
Sorry, I cannot write more, because OSIRIS NEEDS ME, and YOU, so bow to him and become his slave forever!
