Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is a faithful adaptation of the tabletop RPG, featuring an engaging story, well-written characters, and extremely deep gameplay mechanics. Although Owlcat Games' did their best to make the game feel welcoming to newcomers with plenty of in-game resources and tutorials, and difficulty customization options, the depth of the experience can be intimidating. Those who brave through the initial confusion, however, will find one of the best computer RPGs released in recent times.

An Epic Adventure
The successor of 'Pathfinder:Kingmaker' and it is not found wanting, certainly not in scope as the events takes place over a vast land that encompasses the ominous world wound the gateway into the abyss, nor the power you command both in regards to your own mythic might and the armies you lead. First and foremost the customisation. For choice this game is nigh unbeatable in character creation choice, there are 25 main classes that you can play as and over 150 subclasses in total. If there was a character you wanted to create to have the same or similar abilities to your fictional idol, you'd be able todo that with relatively few exceptions. Guts? Super easy. Vampire? No worries. Son Goku? You can do that! Frankly its overwhelming, whilst I would deduct points for that previously in Kingmaker, Owlcat have went above and beyond to make it as easy as possible to understand it all with both auto class leveling and detailed breakdowns of subclass +/- compared to others - 5/5 Secondly the campaign and story. It is not something everyone would cry for but a good story goes a long way and fortunately WoTR can claim to a well written story. Its not something that will make you cry, nor will you contemplate life after experiencing it but it can attest to well written characters, motivating plot points and twists and turns amongst it all that make for an emersive experience. - 4/5 Thirdly and arguably the most important, combat. Combat can be played in real time with pause and turned based where you can even swap between the two mid battle, truly a perfect combination and not either or purturbing fans of one or the other. When it comes down to it the combat is a flurry of complex abilities, buffs and debuffs, powerful magic and raw carnage that makes it all rather wonderous as it all fits together - 5/5 I wish I could go on but words a running short so I'll just say, yes this is a must buy at full price and if not at full price it is a must own title for any a fan of DnD.

Better than the first one
The reason for that... I've played more than 30 minutes into the game. I never got into Kingmaker but this is holding my attention for much longer. However, I'm not a fan of the UI and the limited voice acting is a little annoying. The art direction isn't really to my taste but that's a very minor gripe. Good game so far.

The first chapter is better than what comes after Wrath of the Righteous doesn't know what game it wants to be, so as Kingmaker full of shallow features with absolute garbage stucture, encounter design and overal gameplay flow. The tacked on "crusade" mechanic doesn't help it either, it is abit better thank the kingdom management but something like this doesn't have place in a CRPG. If I want to play HoMM I will do that, instead of wasting time on inferior product. And if you add setting to make it optional, don't tie in other content (like mythic paths lol) which either leads to bugs or straight out paythrough ruin. Writing is even worse than Kingmaker, which is a feat on its own. The only improvement over Kingmaker is graphics, but instead of learning from its other shortcommings devs double down on them. Also it is seems a bit less buggy than Kingmaker on release, which doesn't mean there aren't really annoying bugs. Similar to Kingmaker might become ok, after a year or two of bugfixes and tunning.

Minor details
In general this is a game I expected to be good since I enjoyed teh last one, I liked how they improved in little things that were annoying in the last one so they improved a lot. What I have been seeing so far of the story embarks you in an epic adventure, slowly developing the mistery on how you ended in all the mess but all starts to fall into place. Also as a first days from launch game, it has some minor bugs that are certanly annoying but doesnt make the game unplayable, I hope those get fixed soon but in general is a solid game that you must enjoy at a slow pace to get every detail that makes this game so great
